The 2018 Winter Olympic Games live from PyeongChang South Korea! Spoiler results
OMFG that was a horrible fall for that Japanese athlete. Is he okay?! He hit the pipe so hard the glass popped out of his goggles!
*edit* Yuto Totsuka. I'm kinda worried that he's not moving. I mean not worried worried, but still... I think he might need to be stretchered off.
Can we not show people being hurt over and over again? Especially if we don’t know he’s ok.
Wait, your feed is replaying that fall?! On Eurosport they have a steady cam on the pipe that's sometimes showing the medical personnel and mostly showing the other athletes and the crowd.

America? Woo.
It’s pretty common to do that here. I find it pretty gross.
That Swiss guy had a great second run. That was some awesome snowboarding. It's also fired up the crowd again, since watching Totsuka's crash had (understandably) dampened what had been up until then a very hyper mood.
Aaaaaand the next guy just smacked his chin off his knee. Well, fuck. At least he's fine. Still. Ouch!
*edit* Hooooollly shit that Ayumu Hirano doing back to back 1400s followed by back to back 12?! That was unbelievable! Surely he's guaranteed a medal?! He's shoved himself into first place.
Oooohh and Scotty James has the slightest of hand drags on his second run...
SHIT! FLYING TOMATO FALLS! Not badly, he's fine, but fuck, he just scuppered that run!
I'll just keep updating this post unless someone else chips in but OMFG is this an epic final.
that last Japanese rider who scored an 87 was given an 85 by the japanese judge. That was way low and very surprising to judge your countryman so harshly.
Okay, Men's Half-Pipe Final - third run commentary on every competitor, including scores.
Kent Callister (Australia) Great run but juuuust didn't get a clean landing at the very end. 62.
Peetu Piiroiselta (Finland) Arrrghh takes a tumble. He's fine, but can't grab a spot on the podium. 13.50.
Patrick Burgener (Switzerland) Jesus he makes it look easy. Nails it, finishes an awesome clean run, throws his helmet into the crowd. 89.75.
Jake Pates (USA) Arrrrrrrhhhh lands heel heavy on his third trick. Damn, he was throwing himself into it too. Keeps his 82.25.
Chase Josey (USA) Ooohhh that was amazing except for the execution on that very last landing. 88!
Jan Scherrer (Switzerland) Eeeeek takes a spill! Amazing performance but just slipped up at the end. 80
And now the wind picks up, making conditions just that bit tougher for the final five...
Raibu Katayama (Japan) "Flies to the moon" according to Eurosport's commentators. His amplitude is unreal! Good clean third run. 87.
Ben Ferguson (USA) AMAZING third run! 90.75. Agonizingly close to the podium. Takes 4th place.
Ayumu Hirano (Japan) Lands too low on his second jump and wobbles on his third. He's guaranteed a medal, but what colour it's going to be depends on the next two athletes. Doesn't improve. Stays at 95.25 for his second run.
Scotty James (Australia) Starts with unbelievable height and then goes down! Not hurt, but can't threaten the Hirano and can't steal gold. Finishes at 92.
Shaun White the Flying Tomato! (USA) Back to back 14.40s! Incredible crystal clear run! Stunning stuff! 97.75! In the very last run of the final, Flying Tomato takes gold!!!!
I knew that half-pipe final was going to be the stuff of legend but holy fucking shit.
Also! Update on the crash from earlier.
Rachel Axon of USA Today has heard from Team Japan's press office. Yuto Totsuka has “no big injury” but pain in his hip and was transported to the hospital.
Also I've been checking online and it's confirmed the Olympic feed didn't broadcast any replays of that fall, so any replays shown had to be organised and broadcast by the stations that chose to do that. The ghouls.
Heh. BBC Sport grab a great image of the Men's Half-Pipe gold medal winner at the moment he knew he had won.
Right. I'm going to watch some figure skating in an attempt to calm myself the fuck down.
*edit* Okay the figure skating feed currently is some Korean announcer talking in Korean and pidgin English, asking everyone to "show us your kiss", along with a shot of the rink being cleaned and romantic music playing in the background.
I'm assuming there's a break and some kiss-cam thing going on, but this is doing an awful lot to calm me down after that frenetic men's half-pipe snowboarding final.
Ok I'm back to Canada and boy the coverage is way better except for one noticeable and huge thing.
Where is my Johnny Weir.
How is Johnny Weir not secretly Canadian or something.
He gets a bit too biting to be secretly Canadian.
I recall a non-Olympic figure skating event where he commented "There's an interesting them going on here but I think the theme is 'I'm scared of the monsters" to a Russian routine to emo music.
Today, Kim told Chloe before she dropped into the pipe, is the day the imugi turns into that dragon.
Dad was right. With her extended family — five South Korean relatives, including her 75-year-old grandmother, who has never seen her compete, an aunt from Switzerland, plus mom, dad, and and her two sisters — holding “Go Chloe Kim!” signs at the bottom of the hill, the 17-year-old won the Olympic gold medal in the halfpipe competition at the Phoenix Snow Park Tuesday morning, overwhelming her opponents with a stunning aerial display.
She dropped the hammer in her first run. With the Lady Gaga song “Paparazzi” playing in her earbuds, Kim scored a 93.75, which was more than eight points higher than the second-place rider, eventual silver medalist Liu Jiayu of China. Chloe quickly set a standard that no one would catch.
After sticking that first landing, she hugged her family cheering section. “Okay, don’t cry,” she said as they swarmed her.
I don’t know if I never noticed before, or if it’s the haircut, or the hair color
But Shaun White looks kind of like Seth Green now
It's always been true.
Also, Shaun White either has an incredible PR team that have instructed him on how to speak on camera and he's absorbed all of that information and has an equally incredible ability to regurgitate it back out on demand OR he's honestly and earnestly a genuine person.
Either way, I believe it. If it's the former, every public figure should hire that PR firm. If it's the latter, Shaun White should start a PR firm.
Okay I've seen her now a few times in interviews and the medal ceremony and all that, so I feel safe in saying that Chloe Kim is a goddamn adorable little badass.
Chloe Kim is amazing, because between stomping everyone's face on the pipe at the Olympics to authoritatively take the gold she's just talkin bout food on Twitter like 'fuck it, it's Tuesday and I'm pretty hungry.'

And yeah spoiler bad injuries just in general
I was pretty sure of that the first time I saw it. I looked away after that.
