I'm planning on putting together a new computer but I'm fed up with the low quality and ridiculous prices of the places available locally. Any one care to recommend a place online to order components from? Not looking for the cheapest, just a place that offers a decent value and a some semblance of service. Looking to pick up a processor, motherboard, RAM, HD, video card, case, and power supply.
I personally am more fond of pricegrabber.com than pricewatch simply for their interface. However if you're not out to squeeze every possible dollar, than yes NewEgg is probably the best one stop shop.
(I get most things wholesale through a distributor, so I don't have to care anymore! Woo!)
Hear my warnings, unbelievers. We have raised altars in this land so that we may sacrifice you to our gods. There is no hope in opposing the inevitable. Put down your arms, unbelievers, and bow before the forces of Chaos!
I prefer Zip Zoom Fly myself (http://www.zipzoomfly.com). I go to NewEgg to read some product reviews then buy at ZZF because they usually charge less for shipping.
+1 to Newegg. I first dealt with them to buy more RAM for my parents old computer as they were complaining about how slow it is. They delivered fast and the price was right. Used them again for a hard drive upgrade for my computer, delivered fast and free and the price was 50 dollars less than similar Hard Drive at Staples. Recently I used them to buy every part for my new computer, and once again they were perfect. I doubt I'll use any other online store for computer parts for quite a while.
And I'm with Doc on Tiger Direct. They're kinda douches when it comes to rebates or RMAs, and unless you hit one of their special little sale thingies you're not really getting a good price on most of their shit.
Along with NCIX there is directcanada.com... some times their prices are higher than ncix, sometimes they're lower. I picked up a couple of 500GB drives last week for about $40 off what I would have paid locally or at NCIX.
I'm pretty lucky as there are a number of great part shops here that are generally right on par with the online stores.
Newegg isn't horribly cheap but they're very very good about taking shit that's broken back(even if it has a manufacterers warranty). Plus when you call them you can actually get a real human on the phone.
The parts for my personal rig came from newegg.com (as did basically all of the electronics I own besides my printer and camera), but my dad also swears by tigerdirect.com.

Great selection, prices, customer service, and shipping. Hassle-free returns. Lightning-fast delivery.
I have had bad experiences with Tiger Direct. They never honored my rebate.
