KwonHo - Free Online 3D Fighting Game (and good)

KwonHo: Fists of Heroes (LINK)

KwonHo is an online 3D fighting game with gameplay similar to Virtua Fighter. There are currently 5 fighting styles to choose from: Muay Thai, Judo, Tai Chi Quan, Ba Ji Quan and Taekwondo. The game has RPG elements with experience, leveling up and coins to buy moves, items and stats. The game also includes support for gyms (read: clans), a bunch of different fighting modes, rooms...

It was originally only accessible to Koreans (kwonho.hangame.com) but was recently picked up stateside by Ijji. There was a beta test in December, and the next beta phase is opening tomorrow (Wednesday May 9th). The beta is only open from 2-11PM PST everyday until they fully open it, which should be in a few weeks.

It's an awesome game, surprisingly polished and should be checked out by anyone who enjoys fighting games.

Edit: For anyone who cares, this game has been shut down due to lack of players. The korean version is still up though. PM me for details if you're interested.

    I remember reading about this a while ago. People seemed to find it not bad, but I forgot about it and never got to try it out.

    It will be free forever. They make money through premium items, much like Gunbound and many other free Korean MMOs.

    Youtube has lots of captured matches if you want to know what it looks like.

    there are some terrible problems with the network code

    ringouts just make both people lag out

    Yeah, the game was lagging a lot. I knew it would be bad, considering it's a beta test and all, but not that bad. Knowing NHN/ijji, it will be fixed very quickly. In the meantime you can always play the several single player modes like Mission mode, Shadow Training, etc.

    KwonHo is now in 24/7 Open Beta and most of the network issues have been resolved. They've really worked a lot on the game in the last month and it shows.

    Here's an example of what current high-level gameplay looks like

    I'm lacking some playing buddies on the East Server... anyone up for some games, or if you just need some Muay Thai strats, my IGN is Izzy.
