Wait. They finally gave LBX the ability to fire slug and scatter? TELL ME MORE.

There's always that one awesome person who keeps the party going until the wee hours of the morning. 25% bonus to Fury gain.
"Shameless Advertising"
The Oosik has turned their mech into a walking advertisement for the Oosik's brewery. +25% bonus to mission C-Bill rewards.
"Sobriety Test"
A lifetime of drinking has rendered the Oosik unusually good at staying mobile even when shitfaced. They have one permanent Evasion charge.
If we could outright replace the Fury meter I'd swap it out with D&D Bard style Drunken Inspiration system. All traits would be removed from the pilots and we'd instead be able to gain bonuses during combat as we get trashed. All Drunken Inspiration abilities do not consume your turn but you can only use one per turn. (i.e. a reflex action from D&D 5E)
"Drinking Game"
Oosiks earn a point of Drunken Inspiration whenever they get a critical, knock a mech down, or blow a component off.
*Literally just a picture of Archer chugging a bottle and holding his finger up*
If a mech takes no action during their turn the Oosiks earn one Drunken Inspiration point.
"Finish the Bottle"
Oosiks earn three points of Drunken Inspiration whenever they get a headshot or a mech kill.
"Drunken Reflexes"
The Oosik can avoid pilot injury from fall damage and headshots. This expends 1 use of Drunken Inspiration. Can be activated upon receiving the injury if the pilot has not used a DI point that round.
"Clean out the Cockpit"
The Oosik jettisons all of the discarded bottles accumulated in their cockpit making the ground around them treacherous to walk on. A designated hex next to the mech removes two stacks of Evasion from any mech entering it. This expends 2 uses of Drunken Inspiration.
"Keg Launcher"
The Oosik fires a complimentary keg of Tusk brand Oosik Ale at a target. The target loses an evasion point and is revealed on sensors. This expends 1 use of Drunken Inspiration and does consume the pilot's turn.
"I'm a Great Dancer"
The Oosik gains an Evasive charge. This expends 1 use of Drunken Inspiration.
"Double Vision"
The Oosik is able to target two targets this turn instead of just one. This expends 1 use of Drunken Inspiration.
"The Hardest Working Liver in the Universe"
The Oosik gains Guarded for one round. This expends 1 use of Drunken Inspiration.
"Hold my Beer"
When DFAing a target the Oosik takes 25% less damage and does 25% more damage. This expends one use of Drunken Inspiration.
"Blackout" (Replaces the Focus ability)
After consuming enough liquor, the Oosik enters a state of pure drunken instinct. They gain infinite Drunken Inspiration, gain all DI buffs, and can use all targeted abilities once per round. The pilot is rendered unavailable for missions for a week due to the crippling hangover.
No, simpler than that, they let LBXs fire more often than regular ACs.
After expend one charge of Drunken Inspiration the Oosik can not be hit in melee.
-Antje Jackelén, Archbishop of the Church of Sweden
"Hungover"
While the tactical acumen and combat skill of the Drunken Oosik is well known, and the fury of the Unintentionally Sober Oosik is legendary, there are no records of a first hand encounter with the Hungover Oosik, for such a beast leaves no survivors in its wake.
Any damage to the head, or damage resulting in pilot injury provokes an immediate counter attack.

There is a drive document with a ton of stuff about the game including Mechs and RPG mechanics **may contain spoilers**

Oh shit. The Steam guide is by Eck, one of the lead devs on the combat engine, and the guy who wins the most multi games at HBS.
Edit: haha, he included pics of him with the HBS trophy
Yeah, the survey went out from BackerKit asked a bunch of stuff like name, address to ship rewards to, etc and one of the questions was if you wanted a Steam or GOG key.
No more crit seeking with weapons at all.
Looks like shoot small many shot attacks into shoot few high damage attacks is the only approach that makes sense then.
Yeah I think I remember that. Multiplayer is cross-play, though, if I remember correctly, since it's a game account.
The #ShitGlitchSays tab on that Google doc is very good. And a reminder that I am going to have to spend way too much time poring over all the flavor text in this game.
He’s not an engine guy he’s a tools guy (meaning basically none of his work is public-facing) but the rest stands
Crit seeking still works if they’ve got multiple locations in internals though
That’s true. Also you up your odds of getting a crit even if they only have on exposed location.
You just can’t crit spam one location into oblivion anymore.
What are some good Light mechs to sneak around in?
Cheetah if you want ECM; Piranha if you want all the machine guns; while it's not technically a light, you could go with one of the ECM Phoenix Hawks; or, if you're a sadist, could always hit up a Locust.

As a Light Enthusiast I have to agree with the Arctic Cheetah with ECM and Piranha with 12 machine guns.
I also enjoy running Urbanmechs.
Oh the Hero Wolfhound is good too, along with the Hero Locust. The regular Wolfhounds are not bad either, especially with twin AMS. Or a Panther with 2ERPPCs is also fun, but I run mine with 2SRM4s and 1ERPPC for the poke and brawl moments.

Getting started with BATTLETECH: Part 1 / Part 2
It's to "celebrate" the launch of the Solaris 7 mode. Log in anytime before May 1st, and you'll get it (injected to your account on the hour after you log in).
I've been thinking of swapping out the weapons to an LB5X+LB2X backed with medium lasers. It gives you a deadside, crit-seeking, and backup weapons for when you run out of ammo....but yeah, it's still pretty bad.
If somebody else doesn't get to it by the time I get access to the game, this will definitely be the first thing I figure out. I already planned on naming my company the Oosik Irregulars and damnit, I want the logo to go with it! If there's nose art then I wanna import that commission art piece I had done for us for that too.

I need some quick tips on getting back into this and the passive tree is DAUNTING.

Honestly, do you think PGI would give out an actually good mech?
Hell the two heros they gave out last month were shit, too.
The last good mech they gave out was like the NCIX Centurian, and only because it was a reskin of a existing Cent.

I'm not surprised. Being around for so long, BT has tons of lore built up to use and its all great. I'm hoping they don't do more than reference the big names of some characters and build up all new heroes and villains in this. What with the potential for dlc to expand this game out, there's sooooo much they could write about. I can't wait to start finding out whose backstabbing me and what factions need some blunt force trauma to set them straight.
Free parts. Strip it and use the weapons on other mechs. The Uziel is in general pretty bad, which is sad, because I really like it.
I usually always go and try to check all of the "heat gen" nodes on the first one, and all of the heat ones on the other tree (can't remember the name of it off the top of my head) avoiding the speed tweak ones as much as possible. I then scatter the rest to taste: ballistics jam chance/ammo/laser, armor, and speed.
If I have time today I'll go and take screencaps of the two trees and the "normal" pattern I start out with.
Actually the Roughneck is pretty decent. The Sunspider is not bad if you play it right. Seen a few that have done decent damage in matches.

I put two UAC10 and an ERPPC in my Sunspider Seems good.

I wouldn't be too worried. Tyler Carpenter is HBS's writer and he wrote the first couple DFA seasons which were very self contained, rich stories while still being Battletechy as fuck. He absolutely knows his shit. Not to mention that we've got our lord and savior Jordan Weisman directly at the helm for this and Mitch Gitelman worked with Jordan on the Mechcommander games. We're in very good hands.
