San Diego Eats

mtsmts Dr. Robot KingRegistered User regular
Hey all
Last minute but heading to a conference this weekend/next week in San Diego

Looking for food and or coffee recommendations for lunch or dinner. I will be staing in the gaslight district near the convention center and would prefer not to have to travel too far.

Cafe Sevilla, a couple blocks away from the Gas Lamp tram station, was pretty solid tapas and wine the last time I was there.

There's also a gelato place a little bit further up the same street (or one or two blocks away) that was amazing - Chocolat Cremerie. They also did some really good espresso. I didn't get to try their crepes, but they looked good.

It's pretty fancy, but the US Grant hotel has great food and fantastic cocktails. The building is also quite interesting if you're into history at all. It's on 4th and Broadway in the Gaslamp.

If you like sushi, Full Moon SD is great as well. That's a block up on Fifth, between Broadway and E.

Lolita's as recommended by Tycho really is just... something words can't describe. Get a California Burrito or Carne Asada Fries and just keep eating it forever

Yeah, Lolita's is great. I don't do much in Gas Lamp but 2-3 trolly stops North is the Little Italy area and there's some goodness there. Devil's Dozen doughnuts on Kettner and Grape is a hidden gem. Also around there is a Ballast Point tap room and restaurant, Fillipis for Italian, Underbelly for ramen. Also on the beer front is Mission Brewing's tap room a short walk from the imperial Transit center which is one stop South of the gas lamp stop, although I wouldn't do that walk at night.

Mission is just on the south side of the Petco lot. You can actually walk there from gas lamp pretty easily. The city's pushed a lot of the homeless population to that South part of the city so it can feel a little sketch sometimes.

I noticed that a bit. Homeless don't bother me all that much, I have lived near SF so they are abundant and aggressive there.

Ended up going to Lolitta's tonight.
