I have this idea of trying to combine Resentment and Agitator with the Health Regen augment, but...
the health regen augment would counteract the red health
i tried running resentment in elder's recess hot zones and it's still not even that great just because it's such an expensive skill
you could just run attack 5!
Not if you're fighting in a hot environment, against an enemy with a ticking damage aura, or just tend to get hit a lot. It could work really well against Val Hazaak and Teostra and Lunastra, I think.
the health regen seems a little too strong for that i think. maybe in a hot zone, but even then... i wonder when the calculation actually occurs. i find peak performance ticks on and off all the time so there's definitely going to be up/down going on with resentment, too. health regen would eat vaal's DoT no problem, and he doesn't spend much time in effluvium.
I was literally just coming in here to complain about crown hunting. I just wrapped up all the base monsters except the elder dragons. What a soul sucking shit fest. And now I have to try and get the rest through investigations instead of the increased chance from event quests. Fucking hell Capcom.
Yeah around nearly 600 hours and it's RNG that's stopping those last couple of crowns. I know there are people who have spent way less time and got them done.
Normally I couldn't give a care about achievements but I love this monster hunter so much I want to platinum it.
You know if they made the range the same for sizes for investigations like they do with the special events like coral waltz it be way easier.
Here's a strange idea what if the binoculars could tell you the size of a monster by using them. Save a lot time and make them more useful than they have ever been in previous games.
I picked up this game for $9 because it was used and I had a coupon, but mostly spurred by hearing about an upcoming FFXIV crossover thing. A couple hours in, I sense there being a lot of practice and study required to fully get my bearings, but got some beginner questions.
1) How much of this is solo play and how much involves other players jumping in and interacting? At the base hub I see some other people around and kept getting notifications that people logged in while I'm out in the forest, but it doesn't feel like an MMO and I haven't yet seen any other players outside of the base. Also wondering if at some point I'm going to start a quest and then suddenly get assigned a team to mission with while I still don't yet know what exactly I'm doing.
2) Should I be trying out and practicing all of the weapon types before upgrading and/or enhancing a certain one? I don't yet have a plan for those, although I've gone through the basic tutorial parts that just show "bring ____ parts and you can make ____".
3) While going on the first couple hunts it keeps indicating all these plants and rocks and items nearbby as I run around the world, should I be taking the time to stop and pick up everything I see? Or only focus on certain valuable things and leave others alone for bag space purposes?

1) You can play the whole game solo, if you want (especially since the hardest difficulty in previous installments, G-rank, is not in Monster Hunter World). The hub can house up to 16 people (I think), and any one of those people can randomly join in your quest. They are unlikely to do so, however, since you are just starting out. You can play in offline mode to avoid this, but I don't think that is necessary. The game will explicitly tell you someone is joining your quest when it happens. Otherwise, if you WANT other people to join you, send up an SOS Flare to get randos to hop into your game. Most story missions will not let you do this until all of the cutscenes are triggered.
2) You should figure out what weapons you mesh well with, but don't worry about losing materials. You can "deconstruct" weapons back down a level and get your parts back in many cases (losing only Zenny, which is plentiful), but even if you can't, parts are pretty plentiful until you start going for the end upgrades of weapon trees. Feel free to craft and experiment as much as you want! Upgrade early/often!
3) It doesn't take much time to harvest, and unless they are immediately consumable on a hunt, they go in a separate bag specifically for crafting materials, so they don't take up bag space. You may run out of bag space for consumables eventually, but there are few things that are valuable enough for you to worry too much about it (certainly not until you reach High Rank, which is much later in the game).

1. You can play the whole thing solo. To avoid randoms joining, you can set your session to private.
2. I would recommend visiting the training area from your room and messing around with the weapons to find one you like and sticking with that type for awhile
3. I would recommend picking up most materials you come by if it's not too out of your way

Trying the weapons and finding the one that speaks to you is always good.
Take your time, do some expeditions, hand in some deliveries, upgrade your farm and hunt the monsters you want for the parts you need.

Don't forget to upgrade your armor too. You get armor upgrade spheres by defeating monsters and completing bounties. The level that you can upgrade is dictated by your hunter rank so check periodically after you level up to see if you can upgrade your armor more.
It is best early on to upgrade armor evenly rather than level one up at a time. Levels cost both upgrade spheres and cash the latter goes up exponentially.
I will say that sooner or later you're going to find yourself strapped for cash after going on an upgrade blitz. Usually around the middle to later stages of the game.
Don't be afraid to go into your monster part stash and start selling off anything that you don't need. Even if you wanted to keep some just in case, you can still dump off a few hundred parts for a very lucrative infusion of zenny. And that's not even including the trade-in only items you've likely been building up over time.
axe of demons w health boost
empress crown w handi, protective polish
dober mail w handi
diablos nero gloves w elementless, attack
empress coil w attack, weakness exploit
dante boots w 2 health boost
handi charm
I seem to get the same like 4 jewels all the time, then I'll go and try to recombine them and ill get the same fucking ones back again. Like i want to farm kulve for all the sweet weapons, but then realize even if I win that rng battle im still fucked trying to get all the "meta" gems for the good sets.
Wow but clearly I completely forgot how to fight Teostra since 4U. Today I finally had some more time to play and finished my Daora grind for now (it really should not have taken 14 Daoras to get 15 carapaces, game) and went to try Teo a bit, and wow. I don't know if he does all that lava or if it's his arena, but I got my first life absolutely rocked. I got so smashed that I figured I should probably try again when it's less late and abandoned quest.

i had a little lightbulb go off and tried running it on a tempered teostra
being five ranks just kills it compared to peak performance, especially since it ain't even on any armor sets
to cap it out without jewels you need to run 2 diablos nero and the charm
if it was three ranks and the availability wasn't shit it'd be pretty great
the health regen augment would counteract the red health

If it were cheaper and easier to slot.
So close. Just a couple more monstys.

You didnt wait for the multievent with him? Much higher percentage of a GC appearing.
I’m missing 3 GC’s (who arent part of those GC events) just kind of burned out for now.
Nergi, Kirin and Black Diablos.
Yeah I have tried to do the multi events/challenges and get what crowns I can but time and RNG are still a factor.
Running investigations with min one silver and a one gold/temepered even measuring the beasties.
It's the RNG gods, the same that have yet also to provide me one crit/draw gem or even another attack jewel.

Traditionally when I need zenny I cull any carves I have more than 30 of unless there's a reason to keep them.
Dunno if World has them but in previous games the various Monster Bones were often an easy source of cash, especially the higher-rank ones.
my switch axe is within 40 hunts of my lance
