He also is in the middle of painting a bunch of Age of Sigmar orcs in 40k Space Wolves colors, and they look hilarious (and awesome.) Like an Orc armourer had a fever dream about Space Marines from another dimension and said hey that looks cool.
Considering how the warp works, this is an entirely possible scenario.

Got in a couple of kill team matches this morning with a friend of mine. (Photos spoilered and featuring his daughters painted space marines in the wings)
Round 1 - my GSC (featuring an old metal broodlord as a genestealer specialist) vs his space Wolves
Round 2 - my Tyranids (featuring that same metal genestealer as a lictor) vs his necrons
Round 1 - Sweep and clear with ruins scattered around the map and an open centre area
My army that was half genestealers plus a mining laser, flamer, heavy stubber, grenade launcher, shotty/icon bearer and leader with power maul and bolt pistol. His was all tac marines with a missile launcher and some other weapons that didn't make it into play due to the mauling that occurred.
Turn 1 and 2 had genestealers in his ranks preventing a lot of shooting and doing work with rending claws and flesh hooks. Being able to shoot while in melee is great, even if he got a few pistol shots off in return. Hitting a 6 to wound and removing any chance of him having an armor save was also solid gold. Some shooting on his part caused some flesh wounds, but not much else.
By the end of turn three I'd pushed him back entirely off all the objectives and killed enough of his tac marines that his army was broken and the mission ended. It was pretty one sided. The photo below is the end of the match, he'd already grabbed his two remaining tac marines... They'd been genestealer adjacent.
The icon giving rerolls to wound was huge for the genestealers and rending claws + toxin sacs mean that rolling a six guarantees kills. The neophyte shooting was garbage and I don't think my little firebase of grenade launcher/stubber/laser inflicted a single wound. My flamer dude was my first casualty after being caught in the open and shot in the face, so no idea how he would have faired.
Round 2 - Intel gathering, a large building in the centre and scattered walls around it.
My Tyranids elite consisting of lictor + three Warriors with desthspitterd and a venom cannon vs his necrons with Tesla's and whatever their regular gun is.
This started off horrendously for me. He got two necrons warriors up on the roof in the center turn one and I got my lictor and a warrior up on the same. My other two warriors ended up in cover ground floor. He then inflicted a total of 5 wounds, shooting the shit out of my nids. Everybody took hits and I dealt nothing in return!
Just prior to this shooting however was my favorite moment of the match. Being charged, his necrons warriors decided the best option would be to fall back. After a rules check we figured that a 3" fall back off a 5" structure was allowed but that he'd have to jump and maybe get hurt.... Which is exactly what happened... a fall from a roof, a mortal wound being rolled for and dealt (including a cp reroll with the exact same result), and the first combatant taken out of action. The second of his two rooftop necrons, witnessing his pals demise, opted to stand and fight.
The remainder of the match involved my nids trying to get stuck in, and his necrons retreating and shooting the shit out of my poor nids. Turn four I managed to get a Tyranid warrior onto a roof (and obscured) by one of his objectives and in the hopes that he'd survive being shot at by the remaining 3 necrons (an immortal and 2 warriors).... He did. Only had to make two saves, made both, made the subsequent broken/morale roll, and scored me two points. After factoring in vp from kills, this put me up 6-4 and I stole the win. If we'd rolled to continue the game he would have tabled me next turn easily.
Necron shooting is very good in kill team, immortals getting three hits on a six is huge, and reanimation protocols saved him three times which was excruciating. Tyranids on the other hand, after a couple of games, I don't know why you'd take anything other than genestealers and maybe lictors. Warriors are good, but not fast enough for dedicated melee and not good enough at shooting to invest points in better guns, though they are multiple wound units, so they can soak a bit. The lictor was a wrecking crew, but at 25pts he's a huge investment. Gaunts don't do shit and count towards being broken when they inevitably die. Genestealers are fast, super dangerous in combat, reroll failed charges, and some of them can get the equivalent of a power sword (acid maw) and an assault 2 pistol (flesh hooks), all of which do work. At 12-13 points kitted out they're fantastic and dangerous.

What is the best way to clean off the oxidation on pewter? I want to clean up my Bjorn and Canis before I prime them. They are pretty old and crusty looking.

I see you have the moldline tool. How good is it?
Works better than a file or hobby knife imo. It's in the same category as the water pot, terrain tool, and painting handle: Very good for purpose but probably still overpriced.
don't really want to talk about this too much publicly, but wanted to share some exciting news - i appear to have cleared the first round of evals for a creative roll with a certain company oft discuss in this thread.
The mold line tool is pretty great. I can always clear mold lines and I have never drawn my own blood, which I could not say about the exacto I used before.

So I want to bring to your attention two really exciting ideas I think you'll find a lot of public interest in. The first borrows heavily from the mythology surrounding the entombed pharaohs of Egypt. The second is inspired by British Arthurian legends...

Didn't know Matrias was working on Fate: Grand Order
All the mechanicus stuff seems designed from the ground up for reconfiguring. It’s all pegs and slots, with smooth spots behind pipe connectors for easy magnetizing.
I kinda want to glue all the pipes together though, having grand designs of attaching a tiny fan to one end and pumping smoke through the whole thing for rad steam leaks along the pipe array.

How viable would that be?
I have no idea of how small a smoke machine can be, but as I understand it the heating element gets quite hot.
I haven’t really explored the logistics of it but with an MDF board, I could drill a hole in it, attach the fan, and put the smoke machine under the table with a funnel towards the opening. Heat shouldn’t be too much of a problem if the machine is far enough down.
Played Kill Team tonight for my second game of the campaign. I missed last week due to other social obligations and also will miss this week. But my Deathwatch maintain a 2-0 record. Tonight was verse Drukhari player who also is our rep at the LGS. Dudes a good guy. His second game of KT so I was helping him through the rules a bit.
Did the terror tactics mission where you get 2 points for getting your people off the board or you win if your enemy breaks. I knew as DW I had a better chance of breaking 9 Dark Eldar than I did winning on sprinting points.
High points of the game:
1)Frag grenade from a grenade launcher smashing the enemy leader in the face at max range and taking him out turn one.
2)Frag cannon continues to be crazy op in KT. Took down 3 models by itself. It did get taken out of action. The last two with a Only in death does Duty End as he took a dark lance to the face. Don't stack your models verse frag cannons friends.
3)Zealot with a xenophase blade killed 2 wytches on his own. Got killed by a hydragauntlet and died in the after action, whatever he had no exp.
4)Hammer killed 2 on his own as well. Also got knocked out by the hydragauntlet lady though.
I won at the end of turn 5 with 1 model on the board left, my leader as my opponent broke and I didn't.
I could of probably stayed back a bit more as we had a cool city lay out with streets and stuff he had to cross to get to me but charging forward was way more thematic.
Also Death to the Alien is amazing on that zealot with the blade.
Deathwatch in KT is just a ton of fun. Though my last two games were verse xenos.
So I recently found my copy of Flight of the Eisenstein, and I reread it, and now I'm reading up on 40K lore in one tab and browsing the GW store in another
The beginning of the heresy series was pretty interesting. Bloating it to 50 books and the dumb distribution model they used was not.
Well I gave up reading them when it started going off in random directions as I really started wondering when they would get to the siege of terra part.

This is 100% me being a grognard but I massively preferred when the Horus Heresy was a vaguely remembered myth of the setting, and not something that had been depicted in excruciating detail.

I dunno if that's grognarding, even. In a lot of ways them nailing down specifics made the backstory "less cool." It's like a movie monster, they're rarely as appealing when they're on screen a ton as when they're hinted at.

Good news - there is only one more HH book coming out then that series done (54 books I think?)
Then the next series starts - called "Siege of Terra". They said it will be way less books and way tighter planned than the HH series.
Were there ever any big xenos attacks during the Heresy? I like the idea of two marine legions slapfighting and then the Umbra or something pop in and start stomping them both.

That's part of the reason the heresy happened - most of of the Xenos threats were taken care of and the Great Crusade was ending. Emperor decided he wasn't needed on the front lines and promoted Horus to take over.
But there is another series (The Beast Arises) that takes place 1500 years after the Heresy ends - the Imperium is a bit comfortable due to peace time and then the Great Beast attacks and messes things up with giant orks. That might be more what you are looking for?
