No side view mirror?

Hey, I drive a 92 Buick Riviera and I have no side mirror on the passenger side of the car (thanks to a nameless sister).

I live in Ontario, but in a couple weeks I'm going to be driving this car to Alberta and staying there for a few months.

I haven't been pulled over driving this car, ever, and I've been driving it like this for about two years. I'm a little paranoid about getting pulled over by mounties though because I've heard they are more strict and more prone to be assholes.

So whats the deal, is it required by law (in either Alberta, or Ontario)?

As for why I haven't had it repaired yet, thats because it will cost $500. If I have to I will though.

Thanks in advance.

I can't speak for Ontario or Alberta law but I know some models of cars produced here in the states have no passenger side mirror, such as my old '89 Ford Escort Pony (the really low end version of the already low end escort)

The only law I can find says that you're required to have them if the rear-view mirror is missing.

    Hope it helps.

Thats actually what I had kind of assumed before. I hope so, cause damn, $500 for a frigging mirror is a huge ripoff.

If you don't care about it matching, you can buy aftermarket mirrors for like 20 bucks.

Yeah if I am required by law to have one, I'm gonna head to a junkyard for sure. Thats what my dad was saying to do.

I just want to know if I HAVE to have one. I've been driving fine without it for about 2 years, like I said. Just dont want to get stranded in the middle of Manitoba or something cause of no stupid mirror.

I dont think they are legally required, the only one needed is the driver side view mirror and rear view mirror.

The 86 Ford Escort didnt have passenger side view mirrors, so it shouldnt be a problem.

I live in Alberta. I don't know the law exactly but I lost that mirror and I drove around for atleast a year without it. Those mirrors overrated and when you learn to drive your instructor won't let you use it anyway (they use it).

I think someone told me once that they aren't required by law. I'd say you're fine here but you might wanna get one anyway because people are crazy drivers here in Calgary
