I think Judge Dredd handles the implications of facism pretty well, and provides enough of a counterpoint so that you understand that the Judges are not the good guys.

there's a certain degree of waffling on that: the america arc has the judges eventually win a fair-ish referendum
    Sometimes people just suck.
But yeah, there's a bit of waffling.
Basicly the justice system is terrible, and almost anytime we see anyone other than Dredd (or few other "good" judges) as main characters, the cracks show pretty clearly, because Dredd somehow makes the horrible system, if not work, atleast not quite as horrible as it otherwise would be.

Yeah, I definitely got vibes from judge dress stuff that there is a ‘right way’ and a ‘wrong way’ to do fascism, rather than an open point of satire

40k is no better or worse than all the hunger maze running divergent lightning thieves in every YA novel. It certainly can’t be worse than anything C.S. Goto writes.

    Hey hey hey

I take umbrage with Percy Jackson being in that list. That series isn't trying to be anything more than action fun.

I probably shouldn't be, but I'm surprised to learn that anyone looks at 40k and is like, "fuck yeah, facism!" Even when back I was a wing nut I found the setting pretty unrelentingly bleak.

As someone who, apparently, made the mistake of taking the setting seriously/at face value, the first/only time I was able to get into it was when the Tau came along and offered a slightly lighter shade of grey.

I find it weird they picked the Necrons as the bad guys. Orks are way easier to tone down for kids.

(The whole thing is an incredibly bad idea though)

Yeah but orcs are still vaguely humanoid so you can't just kill them willy-nilly

Necrons are just totally alien and get a free pass on the kids-story-murder-meter

Skeletons being bad guys is a pretty easy thing to work even in children's literature.

I am tired of all this skeletonism
everyone's got a little skeleton in their hearts

I've just been informed that the skeleton everyone has is actually full-sized, and specifically not inside their hearts

The scopes and limitations section is great.

    Also less organ harvesting.

Bit more variety in Mottom's army now that we can see the whole thing, which is neat - more raptor riders and ninjas and some kinda giant turtle. Rest of the bounty hunter crew seems to be faring better too, though giant baby man may be about to get stabbed in the eye with a chainsaw pike.

Not for long. It's about to be stabbed in the face with a fucking chainsaw polearm. Or rip that dude in half, like that baby does in the trailer for that one game I Kickstarted awhile back:

edit: is that Incubus standing in front of the giant baby? That person kinda looks like him, but I wouldn't expect him to be there

I know someone from a military family who believes the correct form of government, is quote "facism" ideally, led by the military.

Oh hey, the giant baby is alright.

There are a lot of words I could use to describe the giant demon baby

"Alright" is not one of them

the word "demon" is conspicuously absent in the story so far except the title, as far as I can recall

has there ever been a judge dredd/40k crossover?

mega-city one could be in the past of the 40k universe. judge dredd could get cryonically frozen and wake up in the future or something
