Lucas had no problem opening up about some other upcoming projects, both having to do with Star Wars. He is currently preparing another series of Clone Wars -- the popular Star Wars animated series. In addition, Lucas will make two more live-action films set in everyone's favorite galaxy far, far away. These films will likely be an hour each, and will air on television, though he doesn't know on what channel (The Sci-Fi network?). Says Lucas of the films, "they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters. They will be other people of that milieu." Very interesting...

So I guess he's making two new films. Thoughts, feelings?

Perhaps a deep sense of shame and betrayal as your childhood is brutally raped? On the plus side, more Clone Wars style animated series.
Made-for-TV hour-long specials? It's like he's going for the "stereotypically shitty sci-fi" award now.

I stopped caring when the movies stopped being rad.

Yeah. I liked the old movies, but I do not consider myself a Star Wars fan at this point.

    am i right

You know, I do feel that this sums up the new trilogy. Tons of flashy effects and all the CGI bells and whistles, but when you actually look at it, it's laughably stupid. Trying to enjoy it is like eating a bowl of sugar for dessert; it's an overload on a good ingredient, which tastes boring and makes you sick to your stomach.

    What of plot, Knob?

What of things to make Amidala do?

dude i'm talking about star wars movies, we don't need any of your damn plot

    here's some plot

there is an evil empire or republic or something and they're bad

so the good guys fight them and maybe there is some smooching and some spaceship fights

    what of the force?

what of the orgies of Nar-Shadoo

(eww that reminds me, speaking of extended universe. I have a comic where Jabba the Hutt is walking with his cronies and he's bragging about shit he's done and one thing he says is, "I have braved the (whatever) pits of Zangos, I have participated in and survived the orgies of Nar-Shadoo!" What the fucking hell?)

Nar Shadaa? The "vertical city" from Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, and Jedi Knight 2?

Also, orgies? Star Wars is supposed to be a PG thing, modeled after good, clean adventure/swashbuckling films (yes I know Kurosawa shut up). Orgies shouldn't even be mentioned.

Man I'd be like what the fuck are you doing if he made another trilogy after the original one, but I'd still think it was cool. They'd base them off new jedi order or some shit I guess. Actually, that's so not goin gto happen.

Seriously the first trilogy was enough. It was great up to the Ewok part, and the final battle where Vader died was great. I really wanted to see the back story spelled out and to have some sympathy for Vader and be able to see for myself that he really was conflicted about being on the dark side and all that.

But frankly I'd rather just imagine it than have Lucas write some fanfic-level canon about it.

Yeah, who the fuck do they think they are, getting annoyed that they paid $9 to watch a terrible product that shits on a franchise that they used to like? They should be grateful and should just enjoy whatever they're given. I mean, it's not like they're paying customers or anything.

How dare they feel entitled to a good product after paying money for it.

Irek and his mother managed to somehow book passage off the planet and relocated to an unnamed location in the Corva Sector, and later to Coruscant, where Roganda had more alterations done to her son, including upgrading the memory chip in his brain, forcing his body to grow well past maturity so he reached a height of three meters, and having lightsabers implanted in his knees, wrists, and elbows.

No one forced you to go see episode one, or episode two, or episode three. And no one is going to force you to watch this.
If you hated the first prequel yet continued to subject yourself to them anyway it's your own fault.

If you hated the first prequel yet continued to subject yourself to them anyway it's your own fault.

    Slow down there.

I feel that I have a right to be pissed about how shitty the first prequel was. I had no reason to expect it to be the total dogshit it was. I loved the other three movies, even if they weren't perfect, and I did not have a reason to suspect that the first prequel would be ass.

The second prequel, I'll take the blame for that one. I thought maybe Lucas just fucked up because he was rusty, and everyone was saying "this wasn't a shitfest like the first one." So I said to myself, "OK, he made four movies in this series and one was bad...let him have one mistake." So that's at least partially my fault.

The third one I did not pay for, and I only ended up seeing it because a friend was seeing it, and the guy he was going to go with had a family crisis. So I didn't pay for that one (they had pre-bought their tickets, so I just used the free one), I didn't expect it to be good, and I saw it to be a friend and keep my friend company, not because I wanted to see it.

These new ones? I won't see them. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't see any of the prequels, but when they came out I didn't know that they'd be so bad. If I had known that, again, I wouldn't have paid for any of them and wouldn't have watched them. Well, except the third one, because that wasn't something I did for me, that was for someone else.

So really, the only one that I see myself at fault for was the second prequel. I don't see what's wrong with complaining about how shitty the films are.

Same thing with The Matrix. I saw the first movie, it was great. I saw the second movie, it sucked. At this point, I feel I have a right to complain: I paid for something that I quite reasonably expected to be good, and it blew ass. I did not see the third Matrix film in any form.

The Matrix films stopped being good after the first one because the Waichoskis got sued and couldn't steal material from Grant Morrison anymore.

    Yeah, I figured as much.

Anyway, my point was that I don't do the fanboy thing where I'll buy anything that says "Star Wars" or "Sony" or "Nintendo" or whatever. If I buy something and it's shit, it's pretty much always a surprise to some degree, as was the case with Star Wars 1, Star Wars 2 (I was going out on a limb there, so it was less of a surprise), and Matrix 2.

I really couldn't believe that they fucked up the Matrix sequels so badly. I mean I understand that you're saying they only made the first one good based on stealing stuff, but I did not know that at the time.
