Ipad 2018, is it good enough for drawing and painting?

Anyone have a hands on experience on using it in here? I kinda dig the entry level price and the form factor.

Might want to stick this question in here for the long term: https://forums.penny-arcade.com/discussion/200061/art-tech-thread-wacom-yiynova-computer-builds-software-post-your-set-up#latest

On the short, I've just got a pro and like it, I imagine that the 9in is a little small. A quick scan of reviews says that the screen gap is more noticeable as well.

If you have an apple store near you, I suggest going and getting hands on yourself. Best buy also usually has some display models out, not sure about pens. If price is a big factor, I don't think theres anything quite like it in that price range, so those caveats might be worth the ability to doodle digitally on the go for you.

Haven't tried the 2018 model, but I have a pro and love it. That said, the screen gap and slower processor are the two big negatives I see people bringing up on this non pro edition

Definitely try the different models at a store if you can. You can also get an official apple refurb of the pro model for 100 off. Comes with full apple warranty and all new hardware except the internals. That's what I did, and you can't tell the difference.
