Freezer Stopped Working After a Power Outage

I guess the title says it all. My GE stand-up freezer has stopped working after a multi-hour power outage. The lcd display on the door is working fine, but it's not getting any colder, and it's not making any sound. I have tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, to no avail. What could be wrong? Why would a power outage of all things cause this? Would a repair be too difficult for a non-specialist?

Unlikely this is the problem, but make sure the coldness setting isn't set at the warmest value or something. I suspect the cause is a power surge that came right before the power outage, damaging the freezer's electronics. If so, that's something that needs a professional.
