Using USB Sandisk reader, computer stalls

Whenever I plug in my Sandisk SD reader into my computer, i'm not able to access the files. Usually, My Computer freezes, but if it doesn't, "Removable Disk H:\" becomes visible, but when double clicking or trying to explore it, Autoplay pops up and stalls. This continues until Autoplay freezes, too. Sorry to bother these forums so much.

Etc: Windows XP SP 2, and i'm trying to read a MicroSD card.

Seriously, I've scrounged the internet and I still haven't been able to find a solution to my problem. I'm using an ImageMage SD/MMC Card Reader, Model SDDR-93 (if it's relevant) and Windows XP SP 2. Now, whenever the reader itself is plugged in, everything's fine, but as soon as I plug in my SD card, "My Computer" locks up. Now, the only way to unfreeze "My Computer" is to unplug the SD Reader. Now, i've tried exploring the drive through other programs to see if it was Explorer's problem, but whenever I highlight my detachable drive my computer gives up. I decided to wait, and this error pops up:

    "semaphore timeout period has expired".

    I'm honestly at a loss.
