Had a really great run just now. 1 boss cell, legendary balanced Lance, crow's flight, double crossbow matic, and repeater crossbow. 5/21/6 I think for my stats, maybe a point or two more in tactics. Got up to the throne room and decided to go for broke. Spent the cells to unlock the cursed sword and replaced my crossbow and Holy fuck is this thing strong. My colorless Lance with 21 in my main stat was doing just shy of 6k damage and this sword was at 15k. So I go in drop a crossbow then start the fight. Crow's flight trivialize this fight like whoa. Just float over his head while my turret wails on him plus I am doing massive damage with the flight. Took less then 30 seconds and never came close to getting hit. Got 3 trophies all at once. Starting on 2 cells now and this is no damn joke.
I just can't get past the level after killing the time keeper. It just feels like a battle of attrition and the level is too long. I've gotten up to 3 keys then died.
Killed the hand of the king on my third attempt. I didn't absorb the thing at the end. How bad did I fuck up?
I am not sure if you actually have to absorb it or not. When you are in the starting area, just below all the hanging bottles, will it let you adjust the difficulty? If so you are good.
2 stem cells does not fuck around. Made it to the clocktower on my first try but the boss stomped me flat. Still not a bad first try.

I am patient.
Upgraded the Blacksmith so that everything that drops is of + quality. Working on ++ now.
First play through. Everything pretty much melts until I get to the Castle, but I'm working towards a build that will allow me to amplify poison damage and then just hover with my magnetic death boots until the bad men with the broadswords are rendered elemental.

Getting everything at + so that you can upgrade it to ++ makes a staggeringly massive difference
Like I could actually see long term +++ stuff being better than legendary gear
Once you've unlocked all the progression abilities, is there any reason not to just take the easiest route/the route with most timed doors every run?
Later in there is an item you throw at guys to turn them into elites that drop blueprints. You can only do it once per enemy type (or sometimes not at all, maybe it is once per enemy per biome as well. Not sure.)

I'm not really a side scroller person but I'm enjoying this, unfortunately I got to the clocktower boss once but now I just can't seem to get far. I'm dying over and over again before I even get to the first boss. I might need to take a break and come back fresh I'm probably getting sloppy as I get more frustrated

You're not alone in slamming into these kinds of walls, but a combination of learning the timing of enemy attacks and unlocking better stuff will help you bust through. A big game-changer for me was remembering to take it easy until I was confident in an area, those timed doors will always be there in future runs.
Oh man, had two legendary weapons, died like a dumbass to some random group of those cannonball guys and jumping accidently into an awkward spot. Lucky this game is pretty and fun to play

Fuuuuuuck, had a good run going on HotK and couldn't close the deal
Went hard in on Shields, but I couldn't quite get his parry timing down
How in the heck do you deal with the clocktower guys scorpion get over here move? Do you need a shield? I notice you can jump it if you're close, but damn it's tough
I must be just rolling at the wrong times, I need to keep an eye on him rather than the chain I'm guessing for the yellow exclamation mark?
Speaking of get over here the actual world reminds me of Mortal Kombat a lot, and makes me want a similar game with mortal kombat characters
Also what does it mean when you die and it says "desecrated damage x2" ?

With the chain hook I always go by audio cues, namely rolling right around the time when the wind-up ends.

Yeah the chain hook has the most reliable audio cue of any attack in the game for me, and screw trying to watch what the clock lady is doing from across the room especially with all the shit happening in phase 2

It's the same with The Concierge for me. Its leap attack ended a lot of my early runs, but noticing the unique scream that signalled it made it so much easier.

Man playing this game muted must really be screwing me up
Yeah I am usually playing with it on mute but I am doing pretty well. Just finished up the 3 cell run. For anyone attempting anything above normal I highly attempt you sink cells into the legendary forge. The extra upgrade level it gets you is immensely helpful. Way better then I thought. I have been picking up the cursed sword when I can because it is insanely strong. I mean yeah you die in one hit by by cell level 4 I already die in one hit so what does it matter.

I've been playing while listening to podcasts.
So I just started watching for him to crouch instead of pull back for a swipe.

People talk about "boss cells"
What are those
Do they have anything to do with all those wooden doors with the symbols on them that I can't open?
I love the game but I think I might have to leave it for a while, after like the 6th death to the clocktower boss, I just don't have rhe timing mentally to get any further. I can dodge one or two things but there's just way too much going on visually especially in the second half of the fight. I'm sure I'd get it eventually but right now I'm kind of bored of going though the starting areas over and over again

I haven’t beat the game myself yet, but my understanding is when you do you can new game + with 1 ‘boss cell’ which makes things harder in various ways, then when you beat it that way you get 2 boss cell mode and so on, up to 4 boss cells which is the hardest mode.

I'm about here at 2 cells. Gonna give it a break because I'm real, real sick of getting insta combo'd and shot from across the screen while climbing literally anything. I also don't know if the Switch stuff has anything to do with it. I do really notice "warping" sometimes (not teleporting mobs - the screen freezes and suddenly you're where you thought you'd be 1-2 seconds later) and the elite "stun" slowing everything down is getting to be something I cannot ignore. Maybe when the patch drops

I made it to the HotK for the first time. Hayabusa Boots and a Parry Shield (along with some grenades) got me a long way, but I was still getting knocked into the spikes even when I successfully parried his attacks, and this was like, the first time in ages I hadn't taken the trap resistance mutation.

I've started always taking it on HotK because I'm not good enough at avoiding all his attacks
I still have yet to beat him though, I have a feeling that I'll eventually brute force is just by virtue of upgrading the blacksmith enough
Think a Tactics build that hits rapidly with traps/skills is gonna be the way to go though, due to his capped HP loss per hit, it really wrecked my high single hit damage build going great word/shield last run

Theres no shame in rolling through enemies.
Satans..... hints.....
(It's how you unlock all the weapons and such)
To expand on this, you talk to the Collector between levels and that adds it to his list of unlocks you can get with cells.
I'm finding that I like tactics builds because I can just dodge, dip, dive, duck, and dodge, while my turrets do all the work.
Pretty great game so far and I especially like the cell system.
Complete lack of progression keeps me from bothering with most roguelikes, so this hits a pretty good spot.
