GOTY: Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but sort of by default because other things fitted better elsewhere and RDR2 isn't on Steam.
VR: I don't have VR gear but of all the VR compatible games I have, Elite: Dangerous is the one I'd want to try.
Labor of Love: stretching the definition, but Shenmue I & II because its development and porting was exactly that and I still kind of can't believe it happened.
Developer: Dharker Studios. Love 'em, hate 'em or in-between, they pushed the envelope hard when Steam finally figured out their policy.
Environment: Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Self-explanatory and I couldn't put SotTR here too.
Better with Friends: not that I've ever actually played it with friends, yet, but Plunkbat. *dodges various thrown objects*
Alternate History: Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. I still haven't actually played it, but fuck Nazis.
Most Fun with a Machine: F1 2018, which is goddamn stunning and frankly I want to put it in a lot of the other categories. The reason it's here is because it might actually have a chance of making the cut. Restricted to just Steam games, this is actually my GOTY so far, but it'll never make it through that category, so tactical voting!
I might go back and change a few of them before voting closes. (Especially if I finally cave and get Odyssey.)
See, Wolfenstein is actually a bad alternate history because while you get to murder the fuck out of Nazis, it also is set in a world where the Nazis won WW2.
Also in Wolfenstein 2, it's explained that America didn't actually resist all that much/was complicit with all the racism and Nazi agendas and at some points welcomed it, so it's not much of an alternate history at all.
I actually just got lucky when I checked in this morning. Counted posts to 40 and pulled the trigger. Not unlike the gift-a-pult trigger I'll be pulling soon on some unwary poster here...

There is apparently only one person that ever bothered to speed run Mad Max & his record is like two & a half hours (2:33:21). That seems achievable. I just don't know if I can get the motivation to learn the game to that degree.
@spoit gifted me a US eshop code for Okami HD, my first switch game! Yeah yeah it's not steam but this is pretty much the general gifting thread so it goes here and more people need to know how awesome he is! :heartbeat:

watch his video a bit, and then combine that with what you know and just play the game with a timer. It's the easiest way to start.

I don’t recall if Mad Max has a robust save system, but making saves right at the start of a section and replaying that over and over for optimization would also be a good technique.
Outcast: Second Contact is free on Humble Bundle for a limited time. Adventure/action, Open world, sci fi game. I didn't see an option to redeem a key on Steam though. Looks like it's just a direct download. :?
Edit: you have like 1 min to snag it!
Edit: And it's gone.

Doooo eeeeet! It's sooo good!
And the last patch made the pretty princess dress-up part even better, too.
You brazen temptress, you.
You can make any armor or weapon item look like any other armor or weapon item (of the same type) that you've ever found, at any time, for free, as often as you want, on the fly.
Crosscode
Skyrim VR (because I have never tried and do not own any VR anything)
No Man's Sky
Motion Twin (they pay everyone at the company the exact same)
Hellblade
Hitman 2
Crusader Kings 2 Holy Fury
Warframe

Pixies and cats cannot be wrong. I have the feeling that this is going to be one of those games that I absolutely have to explore and find and do every single little mission and quest because my inner mythology nerd wants to be fed. I'm getting shades of Skyrim- the good shades- and it just makes me want to keep playing.
And it means that the incoming snowstorm will actually be a good thing because I'll have hours and hours of time to devote to every little corner.
Though, quick question: do we get to visit every single one of the zones on the map? With missions and everything?
@Echo - can you please lock this one down? Thanks so much!
(Also, if there is someone else I should tag so I'm not always bugging you, please let me know.)
