The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Ted Mosby, but that might just be because he's a POV character so his inner voice is able to add so much context that makes his actions worse.

ross' fuckability is outside the powers of anyone in this thread to affect. the man has a child
Wait... Where the hell is the Holiday Armadillo on this list?
I mostly tried to limit it to characters who appeared across multiple seasons.
The exception is Kathy, but she apparently made such good friends with the cast behind-the-scenes that the cast lobbied for the writers to change her final episode so she doesn't cheat on Chandler. The writers overruled the cast though.
Also you could probably come up with ten different Ross variations and fill an entire list with them.

There's a ton of social issues with Friends but that rings true of just about every show during that era.
You're going to be hard-pressed to find sitcoms where the protagonists don't come off as psycopathic monsters when their actions are interpreted through the lens of the real world. Some of that is due to incredibly insensitive and irresponsible situations written into the show and some of it is because heightened reality for comedic purposes typically doesn't translate favorably to the real world where situations are complex and there are long-term consequences for your actions. It's up to you how much disbelief you're willing to suspend and, sadly, a lot of shows ask you to look past too many genuinely hurtful grievances
i don't know that the show ever gave him a name? he wasn't credited. but yeah he was just standing there in the background of most shots. i dunno man i've wondered about it myself

monica is the only objectively good person in the group, though
no way! she gambled away their apartment and mattresses and that was just one episode
if rachel woulda put one iota of a fuck in learning or caring about any of the friends, they would not have been in that situation
monica gambled on rachel not sucking because she believes in people
monica is a hero

also: ross fucking sucked for like the first three or four seasons
once they dialed him up and made him just as insane as the rest of the group he got a lot more entertaining, but like any sitcom character from that era he's not ever really a good guy

Ross is nice to his friends & family.
But he a very selfish person.

the one nice thing I will say about him is that he was absolutely right about the whole break thing
being alive in 2018 is weird for a lot of reasons but right now I'm going crazy over how hard people flipped on How I Met Your Mother
This is in no way a 2018 thing. As someone who loved that show when it started, the trajectory is, a few people loved the show and no one else knew what it was for years. Then as it started to become more popular, it got worse. I was complaining with fellow fans about how far downhill it had gone by season 5 when it was starting to become an actual THING. And tons of people were yelling about how bad it had gotten by the final season, to say nothing of the finale.
Best overall person? Most entertaining character? Best friend to the other friends?
Also, How I Met Your Mother probably had the worst series finale of this millennia (so far at least). Top three at worst. I put Dexter slightly behind it.

not really
or at least not in the good way
Joey isn't so bad as I recall
Ted Mosby, but that might just be because he's a POV character so his inner voice is able to add so much context that makes his actions worse.
I considered doing a "Who is the fifth Seinfeld?" instead, but it would definitely have come down to Newman or Frank Costanza.
Joey doesn't share food!
Two children, even.
Kenny Bania
I have seen a single episode of friends
in that episode joey takes advantage of a mentally disabled woman's delusion that he is his character from tv so that he can try and fuck her
hmmmmm
must have missed that episode
Brooke Shields plays the delusional woman!

also ted mosby is bad but barney is worst
this is why happy endings is the superior blatant friends rip off
Chandler & Rachel are both worse.
false
at least for Chandler
Rachel is pretty bad but at least she wasn't as whiny/angry about it all the time
no way! she gambled away their apartment and mattresses and that was just one episode
Yeah Barney is a straight up monster played off as a loveable scamp and it extremely sucks.

never underestimate how much good will a shitty ending can unravel

my personal Friends character ranking changes a fair bit with my mood but Monica is always at the high end
the one nice thing I will say about him is that he was absolutely right about the whole break thing
the bottom three shift around a lot, but those top three are locked in place
