anyone else see this. why? why must they do this? i dont know what your guys' opinion is but personally i think cell phone games are best left to puzzle games only. though i suppose i shouldnt be talking down on a game that isnt even out. and i also guess nobody is forcing me to play it. well, would you look at that, by the end of this post ive completely stopped caring about it.
Sounds like it'd be awesome not-cellphone fare, but I hesitate to think a cellphone game can be very good.
It's surprising how much power you can get out a modern cell-phone these days. The phone I had to design a game for had the processing power of a Playstation 1. you can do some pretty freaking sweet stuff with those things, the only real hitch being the control scheme.

Control scheme's the whole problem. I have no doubt that these things have plenty of power, but it's useless without the decent control scheme.
i cant imagine any decent combos. or being surrounded by enemies or such. moving around and swinging the blades and jumping wont be very easy with about a square inch controller.
Wow @ that PSP screen. Amazing stuff. I need to get me a PSP soon... Castlevania: Chi no Rondo + SotN, God of War, MGS Portable Ops... too much good stuff to pass up.
If a cell phone game isn't a puzzle game, it fails immediately.
I had California Games, Doom and some turn based strategy game ala Advance Wars (May have been Ancient Empires II) on my old mobile and none of them failed. In fact, I'd say they positively succeeded.
Damn. Not bad for the PSP. It just seems weird to think that the actual screen of the PSP is smaller than the screenshot on my monitor, so a lot of that beauty will probably be lost.
yeah that screen shot is pretty swell for a psp. i will probably wait a year or 2 before i pick one up. games will be alot cheaper then, plus more games will be out, and the system itself should be a little cheaper. seems like a reasonable plan to me. get on it.

N-Gage?
Cell phones games will always suffer from a crappy control scheme as long as cell phones stick with the standard 4x3 button setup with keys that are not only tiny and crammed together, but mushy as hell. Action games, anyway. Turn based stuff still works ok.
It's kinda sad that the best non puzzle cell phone game to be released in years has probably been Doom RPG. A turn based version of a straight run and gun shooter.

The dawn of multitouch screens should fix such matters to a degree.
Well, shit that's a pretty high score for a mobile game. What provider do you need for this? Not that I'd play it, I just cannot play a game on my cell phone keypad.

I'm considering it, looking at the review. But I still wonder how it can control well on a phone. Hell, even Paperboy is hard to control on a phone. The only cellphone games I have actually enjoyed are card games, and Tetris/Lumines.

Not to mention supposedly there is a revamp of the PSP comming with internal flash mem, better screen, and a better D pad. It almost makes me wish I had of waited on mine.

Good to know it's on Verizon, since that's what I have. I wish there was a way to demo cell games before buying them.

Bought it and played it on my Samsung A930. My Sammy is obviously not the best phone around, as my game doesn't look as nice as those screens.
It's alright. 10 levels long with an arena mode. There are no combos like in the console versions. You mash OK several times until Kratos completes a single combo. It can be played entirely one-handed. Run with left/right, up is jump, down either blocks or grabs, depending on the context. Left soft key chooses between Athena's Blades, Artemis' Blade, Medusa's Gaze, and Army of Hades. You can level them up with red orbs, just like the console versions. Hurt enemies enough and you can grab them or perform a finishing move on them. Some of the moves look very nice. Even on my less than perfect phone, the animation is smooth and detailed. There's blood everywhere.
It's a fun game, for a cellphone game. It doesn't hold up to other sidescrolling action games available on the DS or PSP, but it's almost comparable to something you'd find on the SNES or GBA or something like that.

What the heck are you talking about? Sprite animated sidescroller featuring Kratos? Sounds fucking awesome. Get the hell out of my office.

I don't think I could stand playing any games on the cell phone with the button layout cell phones have.
Why is this a joke? Ninja Gaiden is coming out on the DS you know, it's not like this game would be out of place on the DS
I think it's a joke in the way that it would be a lot more likely to be on the PSP, that the DS.

Sony owns God Of War.
Tecmo owns Ninja Gaiden.
you can see why one might be more likely for DS than the other.
But God of War is made by Sony.
I agree, but with the mildly limited (compared to a console) power of the psp, you sort of have to pick your battles, so to speak.
