Chaosium (publisher of Call of Cthulhu, Stormbringer, Runequest and Pendragon) announced today the passing of Greg Stafford.
Greg was and is a giant of the hobby and his games (Runequest and Pendragon) have been influential on a great many designers since, with a strong emphasis on narrative (versus simulationist) storytelling and fascinatingly in-depth mythologies. 13th Age players might consider picking up the recent Glorantha supplement, or the even more recently released
Glorantha Sourcebook, if they want to roleplay in the setting of the computer game
King of Dragon Pass.
Very sad news to read, as I was getting back into the hobby.

John Wick wrote a really moving tribute to Stafford, and how much he influenced.. well.. all of roleplaying.

No one said Stafford created Call of Cthulhu?
Though, now that you mention it, Sandy Peterson has made massive contributions to Glorantha: he’s basically the creator of the 2nd of the setting’s two continents, Pameltela.
