So the new mac mini had 4 thunderbolt ports, 2 USB-A ports, an HDMI port, and a 10Gbit ethernet port, along with 64 gigs of ram and a 6 core processor.

Throw in a Thunderbolt GPU enclosure with a Fire card and its basically a mid-level headless workstation.

It starts at 799, but I bet with all the fixins this thing costs thousands.

799 seems appropriate for whats in it. RAM is on a cheap cyle. 6 core proc is pretty barebones. Its a nice price ish for it I guess.

If it makes you feel better, that project is both logistically and scientifically impossible, and that's generously assuming whatever bureaucrat that announced it was serious instead of just trying to sound important.

Already left early yesterday but had to be here for various issues. Had to be here this morning because part of the network went down and I'm working with people to fix it. I can't really telework. Supposed to be here till 8 tonight for conferences but I'm not teaching yet, just doing it so not a big deal if I miss. Still have to use sick time or else I don't get Friday off.

lol it wont be 799 with 64 gigs of ram and the 6 core processor and the 10Gbit... nothing is.

But it will be more pricy than windows competitors...

its just good to see a sub 1000 dollar headless option from apple that plays in the neighborhood of other offerings within a couple hundred bucks, and in some ways outpaces (like I/O).
