The Guiding Principles and New Rules
document is now in effect.
The current plan is to attempt to start the Holiday Forums on December 23rd sometime during the day. During this time, the Future State Planning Center will remain open. The Holiday Forum merge will last (if Vanilla cooperates) until January 3rd.
[Fallout] Remember when we said no NPC's or Companions in West Virginia ? Never mind.

I just have a bit of FOMO given how big the game is and my preference for avoiding guides and large spoilers, so I'm looking for any little suggestions like, "Be sure to go to X. It's near Y and there's a great quest/found story/whatever if you..."
I dunno if you're playing with any mods but if missing things is something you're worried about, avoid the Healthier Commonwealth mod. It makes the region more green, taller and more abundant grass. It's extremely satisfying from an immersion perspective (and is more realistic IMO), but holy shit, it was hiding a LOT from my view that I wasn't noticing before. Plus, if you kill someone / something and it falls in the grass, good luck finding it. I mean, it's kinda funny that you have to go searching through grass like that, but less fun if there's small objects you have to notice.
Like mines.
More just like, "hey is there something off the beaten path that you came across in Fallout 4 that you really liked and think other people shouldn't miss?" I'm not looking for a big write-up or anything like that, just a suggestion or two if there's anything people thought was really cool but could easily be missed. No worries if nobody has any thoughts along those lines, just thought I would ask.
It's not exactly what you're asking for, but there's a console command you may be interested in. "tmm 1,0,0" (which works in skyrim as well) will add every presently unknown location icon to the map, but blacked out and undiscovered. There isn't much you can miss out on if you just visit every named location in the game.
There are some very minor spoilers in a couple of locations' names and existences, but that's the only real downside. Maybe wait to use it until after you find The Railroad? The quest for that is the only time I can think of when having a destination pre-marked would make a difference to what you do.
Alternatively: Dunwich Borers is cool. You can find it between Salem and The Slog in the northeast of the map.

Handsome Dan Doggerty, a ghoul so good looking that he gets confused for a smooth skin even by other ghouls. Cowboy with a focus on pistols and explosives.
Has a natural born charisma of 10, prefers to shoot people in the face anyway.
Dunwich Borers was indeed cool, and exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Thanks!
Joined a team in Vault 94 for some team thing, a little later than everyone else. Infinite spawning at the entrance is not fun.
I'll have you know Handsome Dan is very happy, could not repair Judy's radio to save his life and has had a very successful career. He's also an asshole (super racist against super mutants) and completely in it for the money.
Any reason to pick a side in the final battle(s) and finish?
Alternately, do the moral thing and slaughter them all.
To see if there's a settlement that needs your help (he'll mark it on your map).
The Minutemen ending gave me a chuckle.
FO76? They are also increasing stash space from 800 to 1200

Cuts out most of the other Nuka world quest content though since its geared towards raiders.
Even if Preston is hostile that doesn’t lock you out per se (though you may want to leave him alone for a week or two to let aggro clear so he doesn’t shoot you on sight).
He won’t join your party but he should still let you do the quest.
Complete with its own steam page and installation:

Theres been a lot of DLC sized mods for Fallout games in the past but this seems like it might end up being quite abit bigger than that if it lives up to the hype.

On the other hand, it self-describes with "an expanded view of the Legion" and y'know, I'm too old and way over any sort of edgy attempt to legitimize a faction that pretty openly rapes people.
But we'll see.
That said, other mods like the Bounty series have explored that perhaps some parts of the Legion are more adaptable than JUST being Caesar's personal lackies. And usually they have to be killed preciously because they are adaptable.
So yeah I am sure if you had some kind of societal collapse you’d get the Legion or something like it, and it would be dangerous as hell.
I was also skeptical that something like the Legion would openly attract fanatics like Ulysses and pre-burning man Joshua Graham who didn’t seem to have much overlap in goals other than being ends justify the means types, but I was wrong on that one too. 10 years later the Legion was prophetic.
It's staggering just how much these guys did with New Vegas, can't wait to explore this new setting... I just need to clean up my mod collection, it's all getting a bit jumbled.
Dear god no.
I can't go back again.
Dear god like mana from heaven
Love the new armor on the Legion, the sword and shield combo makes them look like something out of Knights of the Old Republic. Looking forward to finding all the cool new gear.
Otherwise it seems to be pretty stable with tons of enemies on screen.
