Making local copy of SMS

Moving from Samsung to Motorola. Samsung smart switch doesn't work.

Any app that makes a local copy of SMS that can be backed up on Samsung and restored on Motorola?

Samsung is android 4.5 and Moto is android 8.0

    I used the app SMS Backup and Restore when I moved from 5X to Pixel XL earlier this year. Worked perfect. I believe it stores a cloud copy and pulls it back down, but it's been 6 months, so I don't know if the data file is on GDrive or elsewhere.

    I'll try that one. I tried SMS backup+ and didn't go well.
