The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Anyways, I made this short film with two of my classmates as the final project in art and crafts at my highschool (the standard isn't really that high, and we figured we just wanted to do something... out of the box?)
Honestly? My first thoughts: Boring prentious "artistic" bullshit.
The "film" fails completely; it doesn't convey the idea or order -> chaos at all.
So we got things running backward; it's not cool.
The composition is not there at all.
Get a tripod.
Make something with a real story next time. Abstract films are driven more by interesting pictures than anything else and the skill just isn't there yet.
Ok, thanks for the feedback. I was almost 100% certain I'd get something like that
I apreciate it, though. I realize I need a tripod and that part of it is backwards is pretty.. well, worthless? But I'm not pretending to be a "real" artist or anything, this was after all just a fun little school project we did in 5-6 hours in total. More time would definitly have helped, I think, since much of it is rushed.
Doing something with a storyline kinda goes against the initial idea of something abstract.
You say you don't think it doesn't convey the idea of order --> chaos, in which I can partly agree. The final product didn't quite live up to the idea I had in my head before we even started, I wanted more intense shots and a helluva lot more "effects" (light and so on) but then again I don't think it fails completely. Have you got any idea of how I could've made it better, or do you despise the concept so much, you can't really tell?
Btw, I did do another film earlier with two of my friends that actually has a story line. It's about two art-snobs stranding in the danish country side, which is about the worst thing that can happen to art-snobs. It's in danish, though, so I doubt you will get much out of it, but if you like, you can check it out here: Lost in Høllund
