Some good runs today. Lots of humor which has made work much better than usual. Really hoping for the Belatro run to make it in because i haven't seen it played before so it will be completely new to me.
God I love void stranger but watching it speedrun necessarily means spoiling a huge pile of secrets that discovering yourself is half the fun of playing, alas
Also a hack that kills Shoujo 59 times is terrifying.

I’ve never actually played sotn but that run yesterday was sweet and now I’m playing it normally and damn I’m getting wrecked by the actual first boss. I’ve played plenty of other vanias and likes. The answer is dodge more attacks but the execution is me constantly being animation locked
the sotn-style castlevanias are all about animation locks and spacing and back dashing, yeah. They're kind of like dark souls fighting games in that way.

Sotn let's you break animation locks though. You can backdash after attacks at any point if I remember right. And attacking in the air and landing mid attack also ends recovery. In fact air attacking landing and attacking again is a great way to double hit quickly
I really want to try speedrunning myself, but I mostly play old JRPGs and aside from the Lufia II memory corruption glitch oof they are all fairly huge timesinks.

started going back over the vods and had to skip MM9 because i was like 10 minutes in ready to kill the guys trying to be comedians on the couch talking over the guy giving real commentary on the game and explaining things.

I personally found that banter to be pretty funny and enjoyed the run, but there have been very similar situations where the couch is providing anti-commentary where it drives me up a wall so I get it. A bunch of people dinking around on the couch is going to always turn off some people, especially if it's really raucous.

I loved the MegaMan 9 run. There really isn't a ton of things to explain for that one anyway. It's a pretty normal run just done well. So the hilarious banter of not even knowing what's going oneshed perfectly.
i think if i had to pick something out about why that one bugged me vs others with fun jokey couches that I enjoy is it felt more like they were doing it over top of someone trying to be helpful and serious and man I feel the struggle of that one guy.

My fav runs are where the runner and host are really good friends and riff off each other + don't cut each other off awkwardly
Disaster Relief Done Quick, a 3 day GDQ speedrunning marathon for raising money for disaster relief charity in the wake of the hurricanes, is starting in about 20 minutes.

I think they just took a mulligan on the plasma deck since they were not getting the RNG and skipped on to the other two decks they were going to run
The megaman X5 run this morning had good banter, was a fun watch

Glitchy as hell, of course. But on the other hand, this technically is a run Link's uncle survives isn't it?

Forget it...
PB is waaaaaay better than I am.
Auto fielding helps a fair amount. I can't hit a ball to save my life, though. PB has good timing.
