Started this in the holiday forum but I'm already finding some great music so I don't want it to stop.

@Poorochondriac is working on a workaround to add multiple of the same song so he can add 13 copies of Werewolves of London.

He'll keep us updated.

Otherwise, no specific rules.

It would be cool if you didn't just add a bunch of shit to be a dick but I can't stop you if you choose to.

    I only add songs in earnest that others may find terrible because they have poor taste in music. Once.

    There was a version of this once where each person could only add 5 songs, and I think I preferred that. As is, the playlist is already up to 473 songs, with some people having added literally dozens and that's... just not what I'm looking for in a playlist? It's too much to listen to the whole thing, and anything I add I feel will just get lost in the crowd. I guess the best use at this point is to just throw it on shuffle and see what I get, which is fine I guess but then there's only a 1 in 473 chance of getting Werewolves of London and that's just not good enough.

    like, one person has added 87 songs! Good songs, too! But I feel like at that point maybe we should do a thread for people to create their own playlists and share those, kind of like a mix tape swap?

    That said, I am listening to the playlist right now so I guess you got me, I'm just sorting by user and listening to the contributions from people who only added 1-5 songs first

    A game dev I follow on twitter opened up a playlist to look for suggestions, and within a day it was up to 34 hours. Yeah, once it hits a certain size the only way to really get through it is to hit shuffle and hope for the best.

    That said, I'll do my part and add a few and see what others have added.

    Also @Raijin Quickfoot the Little Drummer Boy thread got moved and locked to the holiday forums. I never got a chance to follow up with it :/

    Edit: Holy crap, this one is also up to 32 hours already.

    Dumb question because I haven’t used Spotify much...how do you change the playlist sorting in the mobile app (or can you even)?

    (Look, I have been mostly old school buying albums and listening to those forever, then fell into a very deep podcast hole, but finally swapped over to Spotify very recently don’t @ me

    The best way I've found to navigate this beast is shuffle around until you find a song you like and then see what else that forumer uploaded and if their tastes are similar to yours. That's not to say you shouldn't expand your horizons though. I don't like listening to most of the metal on here but found a few that like!

    Yeah. I like the chaos and shuffle method.

    You have to skip a lot of songs but that's OK.

    Plus, my music tastes are varied enough that I'm not skipping too much.

    My options are the mobile app or web player. Did you find the option to sort by user on either of those because all I'm seeing is Title, Artist, and Recently Added.

    Would the Werewolves solution be to add the album version, then any best of or compilation versions? Does it account for the same song from different sources?

    Live versions and covers as well.

    Edit: Though I think anyone posting that Kid Rock song should be reported for abuse...

    So far I've only skipped one song and it was because it was a bit too relaxed for the day after vacation. I don't want them to find me passed out at my desk.

    How do you add songs to a playlist you don't "Own"?

    I usually click the song in my library and click "add to playlist", but even though I've saved this to my Library it doesn't show up as an option

    I listen to a lot of podcasts that make mention the Mountain Goats a bunch and even like John Darnielle's reviews for VICE (and his guest spot on Judge John Hodgman) but have never actually listened to them. LET ME CHANGE THAT NOW.
