hello, movie lovers
you may have heard that the Oscar nominations are out, celebrating some of the best of 2018's movies, before the awards on February 24th at 5:00 PST
there's been no drama about the ceremony which really will be okay without a host, absolutely everybody is happy with how the nominations shook out, not one of the frontrunners is problematic on every single front, it's all fine
but the important thing is, despite all indications to the contrary pre-Golden Globes/Annie nominations, Into The Spider-Verse has a real shot to win Best Animated Feature, and we are going to spend the next month and change keeping that hope alive
let's all be really nice to each other while discussing movies, try and remember the difference between sound editing and sound mixing (editing is the choice of sound and mixing is how that sound is presented in the final product), justify our random guesses for Best Documentary, Short Subject, and try and win some prizes!
@Goose! has the submission form ready to go here:
https://goo.gl/forms/f1sQ74v45YrJe9ox2 , please fill it out carefully
and, most importantly:
THE PRIZES
@Goose! and myself are going halvsies on a free six months of AMC A-List, AMC's Moviepass-esque program that works way better and probably won't fold in the next week
if anyone wants to submit a prize, shoot me a PM and I'll add it to the post
here are the nominees!

BUT, would not be the first to give an acceptance speech if she won!
It's going to win Best Song and that's it.
Well... I'll give Lady Gaga a chance.
just you wait
Then Mahershala Ali will slap him across the face.
And I loved Isle of Dogs.
Right I’m not saying it deserved those noms, but if people are going to burn all those slots in a bunch of categories on it, it seems odd that the person who made the movie doesn’t get a nom for director. Not a biggie, just an oddity.
It should win, but I'd bet on either of the Disney sequels taking it, because of how Animated Picture gets treated.
We currently have 6 contestants
Good luck, y'all
It came out less than a year ago. 2018 just felt like it lasted several years, somehow.
Just under a week to get your prediction in!
Also, @YaYa I may not be able to score it live because of extenuating circumstances, won't know for sure till the night of. FYI.
copy that, thanks!
ugh
uggggggghhhhhh
*cough*.
I watched spiderverse, and voted for it.
