Vampire: Bloodlines problem

I've just got around to playing this game. In areas with lots of effects (sewers, for example), my mouse and keyboard will sometimes get "stuck" or stop responding. Is there a fix for this other than turning off the eye candy? I have the version available over STEAM.

I have heard of this problem, and I think the problem may have been a "you are just gonna have to live with it" sort of thing, but it was at another board som I'ma have to track it down in a minute.

edit: Ok, im cetain it was gamefaqs, but I cant find anything on this problem there anymore. Im fairly certain it is just a problem with the way the game takes up lots of memory and stuff, so I guess maybe you just turn down the graphics or something.

Actually, I remember reading about how you can limit the amount of memory the game uses or something by typing it into the game files in notepad, but I dont know if that is worth looking into or what.

Fixed it. After having up the task manager on my other monitor, I noticed that it was using 100% of the processor when this was happening. I moved it to BelowNormal priority and it cleared it up.

Wow - haven't played that game in a while.

Aside from the many bugs and glitches ...I remember having a blast, especially since I'm a fan of modern vampire movies/games.

Have you been looking for any mods?

Ah, I knew it was something like that.

The problem with this game is that with the way its made just about everybody gets some sort of problem. Also, looking into the patches and stuff can be a good idea, I think the "true" fan patch is pretty neat.

    I also have a problem!

Can someone help me change the default key of "Ctrl + C" to hack a computer? My Ctrl keys on my keyboard are broken and I can't edit it in the options, and I couldn't find it in the config.cfg file.

Please help. It's very annoying having to play through the game without hacking...

I ahd this problem too, to solve it I used task manager to turn up the priority of the mouse and keyboard... can't remember the file name though.

    itype.exe for keyboard.

Lowering the process priority of the game as the OP noticed will accomplish the same thing.

I think it's going to be tough to find a solution.

On the one hand, re-binding it should be easy. It's based off HL2, and entering a console command to re-bind something is easy as pie, even if there's no GUI for it.

Problem is, you need to know what "command" is being given to the game when CTRL + C is pressed. Without knowing that, you can't re-bind it. I did a quick google search, and nothing came up. Plus, although I'm sure there's a way, I don't actually know how to bind two keystrokes (ALT, CTRL or SHIFT + anything) in games like HL2.
