luckily in the fantasy world of the mushroom kingdom, that's not the case and everyone loves peach and their life and the kingdom. she bakes big cakes.

Just because no one has taught the Toads to recognize their victimization under an unjust system does not a just system make

the toads recognize the system they just love it, they just love those cakes

The toads cannot possibly dream of a life in which they own the means of production and work for one another rather than an controlling figurehead. They look at the more militaristic kingdoms around them and think they are happy when in fact they are merely less exploited. Complacency is a survival mechanism, we should not confuse lessened degrees of injustice for a lack of it. Better lives are still possible for toad society but only once the very notion of a "benevolent monarchy" is understood for the lie that it is.

I expect monarchist propaganda from loyalists, but I'm surprised and chagrined to see it from you Chincy.

Benevolence never lasts and eventually even those in denial about the true value of their own lives will suffer. We should strive for a better life for them now, rather than wait for them to be hurt.

Remember, children: Don’t buy a console a month before E3 unless you are able to accept that a new version with better features will be announced for the same price you paid.

Nintendo has already said they are not announcing a new console at E3

Good to know, though I’d also extend my warning to include new bundles.

    different kingdoms

but there's a lot to unpack with regard to class and military conscription in Bowser's kingdom and also a lot to unpack with regards to possible unification of the two kingdoms

There is certainly a concern to be raised about potential class conflict between the Toads and the lower classes of Bowser's kingdom. Unification would have to include significant effort towards fostering a sense of camaraderie and empathy among the working classes.

Peach and Bowser are both tools of the patriots pitted against each other to stimulate the war economy

Mario is a stand in for the metal gear, the perfect adaptable weapons platform (powerups = nuclear missiles)

*pushes up glasses so hard they get embedded into my skull* by the time of the war economy the Patriots had abandoned Metal Gear as a concept, because the doctrine of nuclear deterrance it stood for was at odds with the new paradigm, which wasn't about using imperialism and raw force to maintain "peace" but instead was about using war as a means of control in and of itself. This can be seen in MGS4 having no new model of Metal Gear, the mecha having given way to the ArmsTech IRVING (or "Gekko"), a much smaller machine designed for urban warfare rather than a land-based equivalent to a nuclear submarine. However Mario does function well enough as a stand-in for the Gekko specifically because he is an active participant in the Mushroom Kingdom's forever-war, always only doing the bare minimum to resolve the current conflict while recklessly setting the stage for the next one

What we call "a mushroom" is the fruiting body of an underground network of strands of fungus. Many times, in cases like a "fairy ring", the same fungal network can produce multiple fruiting bodies.

Fire Emblem, Pokémon, Link's Awakening remake, Astral Chain, Animal Crossing, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, next DLC character for Smash Bros.

And there'll probably be a game announcement or two.

Giant Bomb was talking about the various conferences, and brought up Mr. Bowser.

    Everyone's expecting a Reggie-like introduction, but I think I'd be content with a puppet.

Oh, and maybe a better StarFox game (I haven't played Zero).

The impression I get is that Nintendo uses their E3 Direct as an opportunity for depth rather than breadth. Remember last year's "Here's a fact about every single character in Smash"? So games like Fire Emblem will get like a minute or two of video and talk, but it won't be like a dramatic reveal video. In Fire Emblem's case, especially because they've been doing a series of character introductions over the past month. I definitely think we see something that's been announced but not really seen yet, but I'm guessing that's more likely to be Bayo 3 rather than Animal Crossing or Metroid. I don't think we see much of Link's Awakening, but I think it'll probably get like a minute video.
