Buying Glasses Online

I desperately need new glasses. I haven't gotten a new pair in 2 or 3 years, since I switched to contacts. However, my newest contact brand, dispite being designed for 1 month continuous wear, does not agree with my eyes.

I have an awkwardly shaped head/facial features, so it's fucking impossible to find frames around here that don't make me look really, really creepy.

So, I'm hoping to turn to the net.

What are some trustworthy sites for purchasing glasses online?

Also, are there any nation-wide chains that offer a wider selection on their website available for instore pickup? This would be much easier if I could arange the payment and perscription through an actual physical location, so this option is preferable.

I strongly suggest you don't buy glasses online.

I mean, if you can't find a nicely-fitting one normally, how can you expect to find it online?

Grab a female friend and go shopping for glasses. Stuff you think makes you look creepy may not be so bad. I was in your shoes several years ago when I was buying my glasses. There was this one pair I hated, and thought made me look retarded, but several people said just the opposite so I ended up getting it. And now I get compliments every time I wear it.

    tldr; don't buy glasses online.

I have no female friends, unfortunately. They all shot off to college and I fell out of contact with them.

If you have a hard time finding frames that suit your face, consider rimless frames. It's a lot easier to find something that doesn't look wierd on you when the frames aren't as obvious in the first place.

Also, if you want you can always go to a brick and mortor place to try on a few frames just to get an idea of what shapes work before ordering online.

My wife got two pairs of eyeglasses from myeyeglasses.net about 18 months ago. She broke one pair and had to have one of the lenses replaced and the frames redone, and she had no problems dealing with them to get the repair work done. They are located out of the country, so if that's something you're not comfortable with, don't order from them. That said, if I had to get new glasses tomorrow, I'd get them from there with no hesitation.

Odd website, but definitely 100% recommended. Only place I ever buy my glasses from. My whole family does it now.

You may want to give this site a look: glassyeyes.blogspot.com

It has some links to online glasses retailers and reviews. One of the sites even has a little flash application that will place the frames on a picture of your face so you can preview them. It has been a big help in my pierced glasses project.
