So if your program runs in a Windows command prompt and there's too much output you can highlight something in the window and it'll pause all output. Really useful for debugging and seeing if something is wrong.

The downside is that it pauses everything about your program. Just stops it dead with barely any indication what's going on.

Guess who got called in on the first day of a three day weekend to troubleshoot why "the application just stopped working". With a kicker that the person who fucked up and left something highlighted the first time did it again like 20 minutes after I showed them what was wrong. Luckily I hadn't left yet.

Fuuuuuck. I wish I could get hired for a permanent position and move up to coach and team leader without being friendly and personable.

I was talking to the person next to me in training and she brought up board games and I mentioned how I play board games with friends and we ended up exchanging phone numbers because she wants more people to play board games with but I'm a very awkward person and I didn't know what to do when she asked to exchanged numbers so I just did but I don't really want to hang out with her because I don't want people at work knowing how shitty my depression or anxiety can get. I feel like an ass but I don't think I've ever hung out with someone from work for this reason.

This is just causing more anxiety.

It keeps getting worse as time goes on tonight. I can't stop thinking about it.

I spent an hour or two today making a flow chart process map of one of my departments primary functions so I could make sure I had everything captured before writing work instructions for it. I love process mapping, it's just so fun laying something out so everyone can see how it actually works, capturing fail states and finding solutions to those. Mmmmm. Plus I get to use a lot of colors.

Kind of feeling better. That was a really lame anxiety episode. Just wanna make sure I don't goof again and actually make it to a management position.

I am learning a lot about student loan lending and such. Discover has a pretty helpful site for finding scholarships, calculating stuff, 8 different kinds of student loans, and bunch of other stuff.

The job doesn't seem too hard so far, there is a lot of information to take in and the system they work with is very different that the one we used in collections so I just need to learn to navigate that stuff.

In class I'm having an extremely easy time with the roleplay and practicing the customer care/needs stuff. It definitely helped that getting better at that stuff is what I spent most of my time in collections at Discover being coached on. The woman I'm sitting next to (the one I exchanged numbers with and then had a ton of anxiety about) keeps "jokingly" saying she feels a little jealous that I'm able to just say this stuff with such ease and that I sound like the trainers.

I do try to help and give advice so I hope I'm being helpful.

When I worked at a casino in Scottsdale just out of the Corps. There was a group of people in the table games that was playing a group lotto, One week they won I don't know how much as this is where is gets murky and into the land of speculation. She comes in one weekend into the lunch room saying to the clic of people they won hands out $20 to each and congratulations to each. Later that week she quits and disappears. I heard a month later everything from it was 100k to 10M they won and she was nary to be found. How they were SOL because she paid them part of the share.

I mean, don't get me wrong, calling them on it only fixes it some of the time, but it's worth a shot. There will always be people who are just weapons-grade stupid and can't be helped.

I don't have this problem with e-mail but I have to admit that my IQ drops about 50 points any time I have to explain a problem to someone over the phone.

In my head: "I have two accounts with the same ISP and need to close the older one."

On the phone: "So I have two accounts with your company, you know how you bought out that other company recently? I was a customer with them and my internet account was migrated over, it's a wireless broadband account, and I called a few days ago and the guy said I should make a new account and then close the old one, I've done that and the new account is working and I need to close the old one, but I don't have the account number for it, well I do but it's the account number for the old account, I mean the old company, the one that your company bought, but I don't think it's the same numbering system for you now. I can see it online on my account, I mean not "account", like my login profile thing on your website? But I can't deactivate it so I need you to do that. The old account I mean. Oh you're putting me through to another department for that? OK cool."

Oh jeez, yes, this. I hate making phone calls for exactly this reason. At least with an email I can rewrite it several times so it's nice and concise, but you can't rewrite your mouth.
