    I also think Foucalt's views on power-knowledge dynamics are far too myopic and reductive, thus explaining their appeal for a certain set of romantically inclined junior academics on every side of the political spectrum

    for my money the seminal french sociologist-philosopher is Pierre Bourdieu

    "what if social capital is best understood as a bunch of intersecting 3d Venn diagrams floating in an abstract space" is a harder idea to get through, admittedly, but one which does make room for more nuanced and accurate understanding of the world

    Also I'm not sure what I find more concerning, the pages where I recognize almost every demon, or the pages where I don't recognize *any* of the demons. I mean, how dangerous can Stolas really be if he's never even got name checked in a Final Fantasy or Persona?
