I don't think I've seen a single Michael Mann movie?
It feels like they were sleeping for the last like two months just blankly recapping Disney movies
I need to get Netflix back so we can do more.
Just like KH3 itself!
Hmm, I've had... 3 teeth removed, a crown put on and several fillings done since I started podcasting
can YOU spot the episodes recorded right after each intervention?
(honestly you could say anything and I wouldn't remember what date it was anyway)
Mr. X popping out in the library still slew me even though I knew it was gonna happen.
I am mostly curious if the plate has improved or worsened my lisp
Sleepy Boy theory...
http://www.audioentropy.com/
Is bad, but has a very Old Internet feel to it, so I appreciate it
One of my favorite bits of their KH3 recap so far was when they realized that they accidentally independently pointed out one of the weird inconsistencies that makes the sleepy boy theory seem the most plausible

The jist of it is that KH3 is a dream had by Sora and every place you go to is a sleeping world, I think?
The short version is that Sora is asleep during the vast majority of KH3, like he was in Dream Drop Distance
They never say he is, and it wouldn't really change anything if he was, but there's some odd inconsistencies and continuity errors throughout the game that people think prove that he is
Things like character models subtly changing between scenes, or DDD imagery appearing when it should only exist inside of dreams
Or how most of the summons in the game are weird illusions or holograms of Disney characters, except for the dream monsters from DDD, which are solid and concrete
It's one of those theories that really has no impact on the story of the game but people like it because it "justifies" some shoddy elements of the story, in lieu of the more obvious explanation that the game had a troubled dev cycle and that leads to errors sometimes
And in fairness there are a few bits and bobs that really seem to not make any sense at all that the sleeping realm theory (that's its real name) would explain
http://www.audioentropy.com/
Yeah, that sort of feels like a theory in need of a wider implication
Like you said, if he is asleep and the worlds he's visiting are sleeping too, so what?
they just did a patreon episode about Spider-verse
It’s also very endearing cause she clearly learned it from Vinny, who started doing that once he had kids
It’s fun seeing where the younger folks there take their influence from
mega spoilers for the end of KH3
according to the sleeping realm theory, what actually happened was he dived deep enough into the dream world to find her ghost and say goodbye to her, and him fading away at the end is actually just him waking up (with the secret ending foreshadowing where he'll travel to next but not directly handshaking with the main ending)
which they argue puts a period on the game's theme about relationships enduring even when someone dies or becomes irrevocably separated, which is a thing in the Pirates, Monsters Inc., and Big Hero 6 worlds
(neverminding that those themes play just fine with the obvious reading of the ending, and arguably fit better since Sora being exiled to a weird new world is a way cleaner parallel to the whole davy jones thing with Orlando Bloom in Pirate land)

that's mostly because it's terribly explained
my best understanding of it is, when some of the worlds got eaten by the Heartless in KH1, as a defense mechanism they "fell asleep." they became completely sealed off from the greater world, and instead of time progressing normally in them they just sort of randomly replay moments in their timeline, with somewhat inconsistent details because hey, dreams
because they're sealed off, sora and riku have to time travel back to when the destiny islands got eaten, so that they can hop into the worlds just before they fall asleep. but then... traverse town is one of the worlds they go to and it should be awake, since it was being used by refugees of fallen worlds at that time?
Dream Drop Distance is a game with a lot of convoluted ideas and a complete disinterest in making them make sense or be interesting.

They’re just other worlds don’t think about it
YES MAKE IT HAPPEN
Considering how foul mouthed both of them are, yeah, it rules
It’s briamgilbert
Which is... probably more upsettig tbh
Abby: "I shot him in the n... gonads, but he's still fucking alive!"
If it was a sincere swear-substitution thing I'd probably find it a lot more grating because I don't trust people who refuse to cuss
But I think my favorite Vinny is actually Beseiged/Bridge Constructor Vinny
He just plays those games with such like, active disdain for how they "Want" him to complete those challenges and its always hilarious
