Paradox should do a subscription service. 4x games are exactly the kind of thing that you wouldn't just binge in a single month's subscription. And how many people are really buying all the DLCs for all their games anyway?

I usually wait for the DLC to go on sale nowadays, and when I first started playing CK2 I got in on a big discounted bundle.

Honestly though, in terms of dollars-to-hours-played, they're still pretty good for me even with all the DLC.

The latest expansion broke Civ 6 so bad it locks up near mid-game, so it basically restarts it for me.

But the best thing about finishing Civ games is the weirdo achievements you stumble into like the other day I got "Win a game via Science victory after capturing an Egyptian city and activating both Einstein and Newton"

When I play hotseat, I basically only play to try to get these, as it can be so much more fun in a friendly multi trying to achieve esoteric arbitrary self-defined goals and exploring the gameplay than just blindly driving towards the same victory conditions we've been playing for 20 years.

Of course, single player against the AI, thou shalt not suffer the heretic to live.

I only got the expansion in the sale so I'm currently having fun loyalty flipping empires with Elanor, nothing quite like seeing an Capital just turn over and start a cascade of smaller cities

Okay I have not played this new Civ 6 expansion. Cities keep becoming free cities around me then offering to join my empire. Why is this happening? I've just been letting them all join?

    cities have a loyalty meter

several things affect this, including distances. If they're caught directly between two empires, they will gradually lose loyalty to the one due to the influence of the other; this makes them a free city.

if they're a bit closer to one (yours) the loyalty pressure will build up and they'll ask if they can join.

I buy the DLC, and then I wait a couple of patches for the game to be polished out. By then a new DLC is released and I buy that - cycle continues ->

I've gone from buying new to during sales, but buying the DLC for these games goes hand-in-hand with replaying for me. Each one does something interesting enough to make me want to play a new game.

Oh hey, I'm done with Diablo 2. Had the grand idea of opening the cow level, got murdered multiple times, can't reach my corpse. Long story short, I restarted the game, the wrong corpse got moved to town, all my good stuff is gone. Had a good run though!

    D2 Do's and Don'ts:

DO: save up all your skill points. remember a wasted skill point means you have to wipe the character!
DO: join cow rifts to 60
DO: preserve your cow-ginity! Make sure to leave the game before the cow king is killed.
DO: Make sure that your first kill of Meph, Diablo and Baal are all done solo so nobody steals ur loot
    DO: Lister runs to 80
DO: store additional items in your cube, just don't hit the button
DO: wait until level like 63 or something before you cash in your rare ring quest reward bonus to make sure that the ilvl has the good stats but not the crappy later stats
DO: go hostile on any sorc that joins your game, THEY ALL HAVE TELEKINESIS AND WILL STEAL YOUR HARLEQUIN CREST
DO: you should only have room in your inventory for two pick up items, everything else should be charms
DO: if you ever die just leave the game entirely to get your corpse back, only losers try to retrieve corpses in the field!
DO: in pvp games remember to not put on gear to get your corpse back
DO: every amazon hacks, literally all of them all the time, so don't feel bad about saying bad things about them in chat
    DO: click the chat gem
    DO: cube your sojs
DON'T: ever accept a soj from a strange account. they are 100% DUPED and will result in blizz BANNING your account, and the fbi RAIDING your house!

  • el_vicioel_vicio Registered User regular
    Classic list right there.

Yeah I was playing sp anyway, and tbf I could not remember which quests reward rings...it was a fairly casual affair. Ran the game on normal and most of nightmare on players8, had to tune it down around act4 because monsters took forever to die. Got to mid a1 on hell before I thought "oh hey I could try the cow lvl on nightmare"

    and shit went bad

Should have backed up that save!
