Prepaid high limit CC

Hi guys,

I'm needing some help running down what card would be appropriate for a prepaid credit or debit "gift" style Visa, Mastercard, or Amex.

I'd like to load $700 onto it, make a purchase, and then toss it. The only offerings I've seen from Visa and Mastercard top out at $200. Anyone familiar with a card/vendor offering this?

Thanks!

Is it possible to just use two $500 gift cards? Lots of physical locations will let you split the payment between multiple cards. Maybe if it's online you can call customer service instead of making the purchase online and they could do it?

Also, if they accept Amex, these list up to $3000, but I don't have any experience with them

Amex gift cards are the best of the bunch. The visa and mastercard gift cards have like $10 activation fees they're garbage, avoid them if you can. Amex is taken at pretty much 99.9% of places that take the other two now, it's my primary card and I think the only place that I've run across that didn't take it was a chinese food buffet.

(I still think privacy.com is the best bet for you bro!)

It only links to a checking account!

Giving out my checking account number, under the context that funds pulled out of a checking account are permagone, is ughhhhhhhhh

Check with your financial institution as well. I can get VISA gift debit cards from mine for free, for up to $500.

Some financial institutions also let you make alias credit card numbers that are only good for one use or up to a dollar amount you specify.

I checked and my bank let me set up a debit card that is refillable but has a different card number and security number than my main card, but is tied through my bank to my debit so I can fill it from my checking. No charge since I've got a checking with them.

Thanks! This can be closed now. FYI, I never did find one of the $3k limit AMEX gift cards for purchase at a retail location - only available online afaik. $200max was what I saw in stores.

I'm pretty sure Amex still does one-time CC#s as well if you're worried about the number being stolen.
