Stop Bluetooth auto play (Android)

Is there a way to stop my car from trying to auto play the last music/entertainment app through Bluetooth? I can't find an option in the car (2019 Outback) and I can, at best, only find the option in specific apps (not including YouTube, oddly).

I stopped using Spotify because I can't stand things starting automatically without me first setting them that way. Google only gives solutions for older versions of Android, as far as I can tell.

I haven't found one other than to turn off the radio when I get in the car. This is with a 2016 Outback and a 2013 Prius (same stereo system, or at least same interface).

Turn off Bluetooth on your phone?

That's definitely a part of your car's head unit. By default bluetooth won't auto play, but some radios have this feature to automatically hit the "play" button on connect.
