Dammit I got a new phone (iMessage issue)

After my iPhone took a dunk in to the toilet I decided to give Android another try and picked up a Pixel 3a. Thing is, I have now learned that if I didn't turn of iMessage on the old phone, my Pixel won't get texts from everyone is used it with.

Since my iPhone is currently bricked, is there anyway to fix the issue externally?

It's been a while since I had this problem, but I *think* you can deregister iMessage and that will fix it? Thusly:

I feel like there was a way to login to your apple account and tell iMessage to default to you number rather than you email or account name. I’m light on the details, but pretty sure it’s possible and happens through the apple account associated with the phone number.

This is the official way to do it.

Yeah, I had to do that, too. It's worked fine since.

    Yeah so no go there

The website gives me an error in saying it can't send my phone an SMS. I spent an hour on the phone first with Apple tech support, then later with them and my phone service tech support, with no solution. I now have a support ticket in.

SO HERE I AM HAVING FINALLY SOLVED IT

APPLE WORKED ON IT FOR ANOTHER WEEK AND CHANGE AND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG

AT&T SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG BUT I DISTINCTLY RECALL THEM CAUSING ISSUES WITH MY PIXEL THAT I'M SURE IS TOTALLY UNRELATED TO THEM NOT SELLING IT

SO I DECIDED SCREW IT IMMA SWITCH TO GOOGLE FI

EXCEPT THEN I WAS IN CANADA AND THEY DON'T HAVE GOOGLE SIM CARDS AND EVERYONE JUST STARED AT ME LIKE A CRAZY PERSON FOR ASKING

I FINALLY GOT ONE TODAY, SWITCHED IT, AND IT WORKED

    AT&T CAN SUCK IT

    TWO WEEKS THIS TOOK
