We'll Meet Again [Spider-man: Far From Home][Open Spoilers After Page 1]

Felt like it went pretty hard on the humour early on, maybe they felt they needed to balance out the Snap / Blip factor which was something they really had to address.
I think the Mysterio turn was done really well, but I'd love to hear what someone who didn't know anything about him other from this movie thought. Looooved the illusion fight scenes, took me back to the Scarecrow fights in the Arkham games or the hallucinogenic Scorpion fight in the PS4 game. Almost enough to make me think about seeing it in 3D.
I wish I hadn't had the mid-credit scene semi-spoiled for me, but it was still great.
The post credit scene made me immediately want to watch the movie again, even if I hadn't wanted to already.
After a day of reflection, I think I'd put it slightly below Homecoming, but re-watching Far From Home may actually move it up the rankings.

Love that my predictions that A) There was no multiverse bullshit and mysterio was lying and That wasn't really Fury were both spot on. What a good use of this character.
It may have been leaked beforehand, but jk simmons back as jameson made me cheer with surprise

Main plot and after credits spoilers
I looooved how they just jumped right in with explaining the 'blip' and how people are older now. The scene of the marching band 'de-blipping' was great and I really hope they do some more with that effect in the future.
Totally knew the multiverse talk and Mysterio was all BS from the first trailer, but I liked how they did it all. The first half felt kinda rushed with getting Mysterio over and giving him the glasses, but after that everything was great.
I saw it last week, so I had no idea about the first after credits scene, but it got a pop out of me(and the crowd). And I never yell or clap at a movie...
Anyone else notice the constriction banner at the end? "Can't Wait To Show You What's Coming Next", I think. Cute.
Very excited to see it again tonight(but in 3D).
Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.

My reactions to the two post-credits:
Mid-credits:
Oh shiiiiiiiiit.
End-credits:
Huh?
I don't think I'm up on my nerd knowledge enough to know what Fury's up to. A friendly-neighbourhood shape-shifter might help Peter in the immediate future, though. If Spider-Man can be seen sticking to walls and swinging around at the same time a hundred reporters are hassling Peter, it might help to de-legitimise the rest of it.
Nobody remembers the singer. The song remains.

i think homecoming is still my favorite of the MCU spiders-men but this was still super good
mysterio's one of my favorite spidey villains and they way they did him here ruled
So we are finally getting S.W.O.R.D.?
Also, I knew SOMETHING was up in the bit where Fury introduced Peter to Beck. He specifically said "Not from your earth.
Made me wonder if Beck was actually from another dimension and he was just projecting Fury.
Also totally felt like Fury was being like...what every one ELSE thinks Fury is like? If that makes sense. And was a little dissapointed on the writing on it. But then in the end, it all came together and it's even better.
There was clapping the moment JK Simmons came on, and audible gasps when they did the Peter reveal.
I absolutely loved the movie. It won't top Spider-Verse, but that's my all time favorite superhero movie.
They get the characters just perfectly. I always wondered if Mysterio could work live action, and they 100% nail him.
I really like that Peter is having a clear arc from Civil War-Homecoming-Infinity War-Far From Home. Really curious where it goes.
My big complaint is that the CG is really bad. I'm pretty sure the PS4 Spider-Man game looks better at points, and I'm sure the Raimi ones had at the very least comparable.

I must say I'm real glad they've not gone with the overused Spiderman villians like Doc Ock and Goblin in the MCU, I like the oddball villain pulls way more.
Also I really liked Happy in this movie, which was a nice surprise.
Even with just the context of the PS4 Spiderman, I could tell that Mysterio was gonna be a charlatan. The illusion scenes were really well done.
I really cannot get over how fuckin smart this take on Mysterio is
Taking "disgruntled special effects artist turned criminal" and turning it into "a team of disgruntled engineers and writers and artists" is such an obvious but brilliant move and using cloaked drones to execute the illusions is a fantastic way to ground it in "reality" versus making green smoke what makes folks hallucinate or what have you
The bit where Beck is simultaneously conducting the illusion, barking orders to his engineer guy and getting a new line to reply to Fury with is just perfect
And Gyllenhaal's manic energy once the illusion drops just amplifies everything and makes it incredible.
The quiet best part of it is how good he is as the boring boilerplate experienced hero up until the big Magma Man fight.
He sells it so well until then when he just starts to push it a liiiiiittle too far during the self sacrifice move.
Mysterio is dead, right? Edith said there were no illusions, but Mysterio still has some mean acting chops.
He could be. The rest of the crew could have put together the video, they'd have more than enough material to fake the whole thing. Could go either way, really, so it depends on what they want to do going forwards.

I’m fine either way, but I would like the idea of him surviving and adding him to the sinister six. It depends on if they can get vulture back.

I feel like he most definitely maybe is
his last words are something like "as long as people believe it" and then he flops and bleeds to death after being fine enough to be standing a few seconds ago? Naaah, he pulled some shit.
Bet he's gonna show up in a Sinister Six movie with no explanation. He'll try to monologue at Peter like "I bet you're wondering how I pulled it off!?" and Pete'll be like "nah? Not really"
Every trip he leads has a disaster.
Is there a villain he could become? Just blame Spider-Man for everything and come after him once he finds out who he is.
Then he tries to exploit Peter's perfume allergy, only to realise that the lies were even worse than he ever suspected.

I can't lose a kid on a school trip!
...Not again!
The two of them, along with Flash Thompson, had some of the best throw away lines.
That his wife faked her death during the blip. I was sure that somebody pulled that trick, and that it was sad teacher's wife was hilarious to me. Poor guy.
My sister described this movie as 'wholesome' and i Kinda have to agree. All the adorkable romance stuff in this movie was amazing and I loved it. It was like the best parts of amazing turned up to 11. The rest was good too, I guess.
Man they really nailed teen awkwardness entirely too well. I had my phone halfway out at one point to start scrolling through it to escape before I remembered where I was.
I appreciate that the marketing and coverage around this didn't try too hard to convince us that "No Mysterio is totally a good guy in this one". Like, come on. It's Mysterio.
I think Talos impersonating Fury helps me accept that Fury got fooled. I feel like Real Fury would not have just bought Mysterio's explanation like Talos did.
Ned and Betty nailed obnoxious short term high school romance. Well done
I didn't actually hear what JJJ said at the beginning of his scene, everyone was laughing too hard when they saw him. Loved it. Loved the Daily Bugle looking like a InfoWars-ass website.
I'm also excited that we don't know what's next for the MCU, really. Endgame had been on the horizon for so long, it's refreshing to see the sky is clear ahead.
So Tony Stark had an AI/Satellite/Drone network that could take someone's name and send a drone to murder them in about a minute? Fuckin' YIKES.
And Brad never would have been on that field trip. I'm sure the Blip made things weird, but that dude graduated high school and is 21. For him to go on that trip and romantically pursue a 16 year old girl is gross.

I don't think brad was 21, he was 5 years younger before the blip so he's the same age as them now.

Yeah
They straight up used him as the example of someone who aged 5 years, he was a kid when The blip happened and when they came back surprise he was their age and also hot

There's a line about "Why is a 21year old allowed on the trip" and it's a joke about how much older he looks than the rest of the class, but if you weren't paying attention at the news thing, you would miss it.

Yeah, the 21-year olds are the blipped students, including ones trying to get alcohol because look, they're 21!

I don’t think it can be overstated how messed up the Blip Generation of kids in the MCU would be. Sure, you can apply that same rubric to -everything- else also, but....although it’s unlikely to be explored, that’s gotta have some long-term human development consequences for minors especially.
when Peter takes MJ swinging, in the other movies it has always been this kinda slow, smooth leisurely thing that doesn't match how Spidey actually swings
Having her ride be bumpy and super fast and terrifying was hilarious and great

The way she's clinging to him when he finally lands in the mid credits is great. Just full on hanging for dear life
That they had those little ridiculous Anti Tony reveals for more than just Beck and the Box of Scraps guy. Just make things up--he made fun of somebody's tie; en route to Pepper's office, he walked by Janice's desk without saying hello. Just... put in increasingly more ridiculous reasons for why the team is disgruntled

Mysterio fuckin ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuled
Might be my third favorite Spider flick after Spider-Verse and Spider-Man 2? Will have to sleep on it. I liked it more than Homecoming myself.
Jake Gyllenhaal owned as Mysterio. The dude oooozes charisma.

Just the most pure MYSTERIO thing they could have done while also being weird and unsettling and cool as hell
