The amendment, by New Jersey Republican Christopher H. Smith, says the inspector general "shall conduct a review of whether the Department of Defense experimented with ticks and other insects regarding use as a biological weapon between the years of 1950 and 1975." If the answer is yes, then the IG must provide the House and Senate Armed Services committees with a report on the experiments' scope and "whether any ticks or insects used in such experiments were released outside of any laboratory by accident or experiment design.

I guess I would peg the moral of the glasses episode as "no man is an island". The dude *thinks* he wants to be completely alone so he can read and do what he wants, but then he finds out that when he's alone and breaks his glasses, whoops there's no one to make new glasses for you
Does he realise you can just move the book closer or further to/from your face until you focus on it?

Maybe he has nasty astigmatism so the text is unclear at any distance. And also that's why he can't just find replacement glasses in the rubble. They're too rare.

He was the chief scientist they tried to kill or pay off, only to find it was unnecessary.

DoD Goon: Now that your work is complete, Dr. Arch, it's time to make sure you don't go telling anyone.

Arch: Look if you're trying to bribe me or kill me, that would be a mistake.

DoD Goon: Why? You think we'll need you to stop them if they get out of control.

Arch: What? No, I have no interest in stopping them. I meant like if you needed to do another thing with spiders or something.

My prescription is -4.75 and I can't really use my phone or read a book without glasses. Not comfortably. Phone has to nearly touch my nose and books are too close to see the whole page without moving the head or the book.

At -7 or -10 I imagine your eyesight is essentially non-functional without correction.

In trying to figure out how to convert the +/- prescription to 20/XX, I found out that "some fighter pilots use eye exercises to attain 20/10 vision, while the world record belongs to a man naturally achieved 20/8 focus by training his eyes for better vision."

    I'd believe it.

I've got 20/10 corrected with contacts and the eye doctor said that's typical of people with a middling prescription like mine, who grew up with inadequate glasses and struggled to focus on chalkboards and TVs.

You end up with much stronger ability to focus on distant objects from the constant exercise.

I mean the vast majority of animals spend 95% of their lives worrying about being murdered. For every top predator there are many thousands or millions of prey.
