Still I am curious about the House of chains book for Necromunda as I know it's mostly House Goliath stuff {it looks like they brought back Juves} But going forward does this mean each gang gets a book?
Blackstone Fortress came out of no where again this time with nurgle stuff so I am curious about it but still this and the other items will have to wait a few weeks while I put my life back together since I went back to hell to get a job
You can probably shave some points by dropping the firewarriors to 5 and put a marker light in each squad. You do want some because the codex was obviously designed around you having some.
So my roommate has a bunch of the old Broadsides, with the 2 rail rifles kn their backs. Are their rules for running them like that, or should we just use the 3 extra rifle bits to convert 3 more Broadsides?
The new Broadsides are holding 2 side by side rather than having 2 in their back.

Alright, so I reworked it a little. I managed to fit some pathfinders in but I'm at 1999 now with the fireblade only having one drone and it is a shield drone. I have a shield and marker drone in each fire warrior squad and no drones with the pathfinders.
Is the shoulder mounted rail rifle boradsides the same size as the new ones?

I mean you are 4 points over so you might have to change something. Not sure what you would want to drop. They 8 are cool but not crazy competitive I think. I love them as an idea though.
Yea, I'm trying to figure out how to drop those 4 points.
I'm not super worried as far as competitive. I'm mostly just making something to goof off with when playing with my friends. I don't want to get face rolled though so I'm not sure how important markerlights are at this point.
I also just really like mech based stuff for the Tau so being able to run two commanders is pretty awesome. I will eventually branch out into more Tau stuff, eventually not running the eight and adding some more stealthy stuff with ghostkeels, stealthsuits, and shadowsun but for now I'm keeping it really minimal.
Markerlights are typically considered vital. Your entire army is based around shooting stuff and it's BS4. You really, really want to be able to consistently put 5 markerlights a turn on something so the rest of your army can delete it.
Not sure how much this scales down to 1k pts but I'm guessing it's still the case.
At least in Japan if you buy the box you get all 6. Of anyone’s interested I can buy and send them to you at cost. There might be some Sorcerer/paint boxes left for series 3 but 2 is long gone. They also have these random chibi models for ¥500 each.
I like the suit list, though I might be biased because suits are cool
You know what's really funny.
You use the veteran stratagem before deployment, and the drones only become a separate unit once deployed, so A) Bringing drones up's the unit size and therefore the CP cost and B)The drones are also "veterans".
Not a full battle report (if I bore people with 'em let me know), but I and a buddy decided to go with a mostly top tier list battle. Mostly as in model dependent if we had 'em and also putting our own spin on things. Ultramarines versus Necrons.
He had two thunderfires, 6 aggressors, G-man, Chaplain Dread, Leviathan Dread, one of those new infiltrator Dreads, Tigurius, Cortez, etc.
I had 3 Doom Scythes, 3 Doomsday Arks, 2 heavy destroyers, 12 Wraiths, 15 immortals, a Destroyer Lord, Cryptek, and a Lord.
You can probably spot which parts of each list were our own spins, but they still mostly functioned as big threats. Highlights were one of my Wraith groups getting absolutely butchered by their list in round 1 and the Ultramarine keeping his guys separate enough so that the Doom Scythe bomb only killed one Thunderfire (and the second died on Turn 2 to Doom Scythe attack).
Necrons still pulled it out, though, with the Doomsday Arks killing every Aggressor (over two rounds) and the second group of Wraiths getting into the Castle and saving 12 of 12 saving throws on a +3 (with one reroll). That actually proved key since it prevented the Ultramarine from being able to close the distance to the remaining objectives and my Immortals were able to sit in LoS cover on 3 objectives.
The -1 to hit / saving throw / transhuman physiology / half damage on the dread garbage was insane, though. There was a turn where 3 Doomsday Arks did zero damage to the Leviathan Dread (crappy rolls admittedly on the Ark side, but still).

Norgoth, I've only read reviewers discussing the seismic relic not the actual rules, but what exactly makes it so overpowered? I understand the enemy has to test for a mortal wound on a 1 every time a model moves within the 6 inch bubble includes movement phase, charging, pile in and consolidation, but it's only a six inch radius aura...?
If you get up close and personal before activating it the enemy doesn't even need to move, just charge, and then decline to pile in, and murder your Coldstar. Assuming you live to the charge phase, because being within 6 inches of an enemy with your character probably means you're getting shot.
Have the spoilers I've been reading online failed to mention something crazy about this thing? Because the internet is going wild about it and IMHO the very small radius makes it less than amazing...?

The wording is "if you begin or you end a move" so that's not just in your movement phase, that's going to be charging, and consolidating; so that's...potentially 6 times a model is going to have to roll a dice?
I think we'll see a pretty quick FAQ with some of this stuff. Shadowsun might be able to go into any Sept she like, but as the rules stand, she won't benefit from Shield drones not in the T'au sept and she won't actually buff non-T'au sept stuff with Kauyon. I can't believe that's intended either.
Sidenote with the Chibi's; they are wrapped in cardboard, so you can't really feel what is in each pack. Good luck!
Listen I mentioned that in my post. It's a six in radius though right? Who in their right mind is going to move, charge, pile in and consolidate in that tight little space over and over? How many models can you possibly catch in the radius?
I feel like I must be missing something and it's really a 30 inch bubble or something wild like that, because talking about flying in an expensive character within 6 inches of an enemy unit so that if they decide to move they risk a lot of 1 in 6 MW checks isn't really stunning.
- If you're 1.1 to 5.9 inches away from a melee unit, they elect not to move and just roll for the <=5 inch charge, some models need to test for both beginning and ending their move in the zone, most just for ending, they elect not to pile in and murder your Commander.
- If you're right next to a shooting unit, they elect not to move and light you up, because your Character rule isn't helping from that distance.
- If you're right next to some kind of useless chaff screening unit that is good at neither shooting nor melee... was this really worth your time and a relic slot? Also you probably get shot to death by some other unit behind them.
So I'm just asking, am I missing something? I'm hearing all this secondhand so there's definitely a chance, but based on the info I've gathered on this relic... it doesn't sound massively broken?

Its a really weirdly worded relic because it raises a whole bunch of questions. If a unit doesn't move, is it actually just moving zero? In which case triggering it multiple times in a row is trivial. The most important part of it is really forcing your opponent to make bad choices with their melee units. Do you pile in if there's a chance at mortal wounds?
Honestly, it's clear the idea is for it to only trigger the once, during movement, but you know, GW rules bullshit.
Yea it just seems like even the most incredibly broken version relies on the opponent making terrible mistakes and shuffling units about an inch at a time within this small footprint.

If you want to get really anal, tectonic plates are moving (just very slowly), the Earth itself is revolving on its axis, while also orbiting the sun, our Solar System is actually rotating its way through the Milky Way galaxy, the Milky Way galaxy is potentially rotating throughout the Known Universe, and the Known Universe may be constantly expanding due to the residual energy from the Big Bang.
If you add a stackable negative modifier for each aspect of movement than your opponent's Heavy weapons would be at a -6 to hit, and that is before you factor in bonuses like Sniper Scouts with camo cloaks or various Eldar flier shenanigans.

I'm just along for the ride.
Speaking of, I just heard that Neal Catapano, of the Warstore fame, passed. Raise a glass and add a name to the Eternity Gate for the guy who did so much for supplying plastic crack and bits.
Cancelled out of course by stacking bonuses to hit because your target is also moving identically to counter-act these forces. They make it so easy it’s almost as if they were standing still.

This discussion tangent brings to mind a quote from one of Warhammer's biggest inspirations (bolding mine):
The Spacing Guild and its navigators, who the spice has mutated over 4000 years, use the orange spice gas, which gives them the ability to fold space. That is, travel to any part of the universe without moving.

I'm going to be very surprised if they're not against Space Wolves; the rumours have been consistent about that pairing for a while, and the name being Saga of the Beast hints towards it strongly.

Do you pile in if there's a chance at mortal wounds?
Honestly, it's clear the idea is for it to only trigger the once, during movement, but you know, GW rules bullshit.
It'd be fun to force anyone trying to argue that to never be allowed to shoot heavy weapons, ever, without applying the penalty for 'moving.' :rotate:
This is a fair point.

There was a weapon in rogue trader that had it's ranged listed as "curvature of the planet"
I'm bummed to hear this. I legit bought everything I did for 40k back in college from the Warstore.
That's a real gut punch.

This discussion tangent brings to mind a quote from one of Warhammer's biggest inspirations (bolding mine):

I'm going to be very surprised if they're not against Space Wolves; the rumours have been consistent about that pairing for a while, and the name being Saga of the Beast hints towards it strongly.
