I for one would like to see screen caps of these life vests and other such claims. Ragging on Bear because of his raw manliness is a bitch move.

Yeah I've seen just about every episode multiple times and never saw a life vest.

Although I will say most of the time I'm not paying that much attention.

Also: have you guys ever seen "I Shouldn't be Alive"

That is a fabulous show as well.

they talk about people who barely survived shit
i've only seen the one about the people on stranded on a lifeboat after their yacht or something sank and one couple out of like 5 or 6 people survived and were stranded for days with dead bodies
they showed how a couple of guys got so thirsty they drank sea water, which is apparently the last thing to do when dehydrated because they died soon after

I'm such a hairy dude that I have a hard time believing that a grown man would have no hair to speak of on his chest unless he took steps to have it removed.

You know what show I really like? How It's Made. Because sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night and ask myself "How DO they make modern candles?" And then I go turn on the tv and watch a 20 minute mini-documentary on the various candle making processes, from pressing the wax flakes together to more traditional dipping methods, now automated by robots. I'm going to make a drinking game for it- one drink every time "They" do something, two drinks every time a conveyor belt is used, three every time they show human hands within two inches of extremely dangerous machinery, and so on.

Srsly though Man Vs. Wild is alright, but Survivorman is a lot more reminiscent of my scouting days. I mean, neither show is super realistic, but Survivorman at least is taking pains not to get his ass frozen, eaten, or otherwise killed.

The Amazon one was fucked up. The guys decide to leave their guide while the guide takes an injured guy back. They go rafting down a river, and end up getting lost, and are stranded for like 2 weeks. Lose their machete, and all their survival equipment, they are pretty much dead. Somehow they get out.

And when they get out they find out their guide and the injured guy never returned, and they still have no idea what happened to them.

Due to the nature and methods of MythBusters, several injuries, mishaps, and close calls have happened over the course of the show. A short list of these mishaps include:
    • Savage had some hair burned off during an explosion test in the "Cell Phone Destruction" myth, which invoked one of his more famous quotes: "Am I missing... an eyebrow?", used in subsequent opening scenes for the show as well as a shirt he often wears.
    • Hyneman almost passed out during the "Stinky Car" myth. The car, having spent two months inside a sealed truck container with two dead pigs inside it, had accumulated high levels of ammonia that almost overwhelmed Hyneman when he went inside to release the brakes.
    • Savage and intern Christine Chamberlain both suffered mild burns in the "Exploding Jawbreaker" experiment. Chamberlain was hit the most; the hot liquid core of the jawbreaker splattered on parts of her face and neck. Savage was later quoted as saying that the molten candy, at around 250 degrees Fahrenheit, felt "...like napalm."
    • In "Hair Cream Decapitation", a mockup jet being pressurized for the test explosively decompressed seconds after Savage accidentally walked past what would become the point of failure.
    • In testing the "Confederate Rocket" myth, Savage and Hyneman underestimated the power of their homemade rocket and decided to test it indoors, resulting in Hyneman almost getting caught in the explosion and setting several objects on fire, including Savage's hovercraft and at least two of the tripod-set cameras recording the event. The rest of the shop was affected by the large volume of (possibly toxic) smoke caused by this incident, forcing a temporary evacuation.
    • In The Hindenburg Mystery, a panel of thermite ignited when both Savage and a cameraman were a few feet away.
