Oh really? Cool. The the reason I thought 626 sounded familiar was because of Lilo & Stich.
Marine armor has significantly changed. Either that or Typhus isn't really a marine, but a reaper.
Well, the uniform reminds me of Nova's outfit from the Ghost art.
*gets lost for a moment, thinking of Nova's splendid if entirely virtual butt*
Er...right. So, you never know. Like I said: Mengsk seems to have a prediliction for hottie badasses at his side, so maybe the new Ghost uniform from SC:G was the result of reforms imposed by him?
Or she could be a Spectre. *covers his bases*
In the video, the computer's voice says "All marines prepare for drop/launch (I forget which)".
"Execute Operation 626"
"Yes my lord"
*mass jedi extinction*
And that's where the protoss really got their arm-sabers from, they just call them psy-blades.
I thought that was just the heatsinks from the suit's CPU heating up.
Also, reapers carry dual pistols.
Blizzard is stealing IP from Mazda again - honestly someone should sue
So? He's still a marine, just not necessarily the unit we call a marine. A firebat is a marine too, right?
EDIT: Damn, GOSU, you're right. He is a special character though, so I guess he could carry whatever he wants.
actually, one ling will kill one marine unless upgrade levels are different.
try it out.
Rayner: Let me introduce my little brother. Say hi 626.
God I really want to see Firebats spewing next-gen graphics napalm everywhere.
Disney also has studios in California. ;-)
Look at the statue of Tychus, he is way too tall We saw in the cinematic that his feet connect directly to the bottom of the boots.
Don't think of it as ass-like graphics, think of it as "this game runs on a wide range of computers".
I mean, hell, Warcraft III ran on my old Intel EXTREME VIDEO. It was probably the only decent 3D game to do so. I ended up upgrading to a GeForce 4MX around the time Grand Theft Auto III came out.
*except those who do the same thing, of course.
This is likely not a game we will look back on years from now, and think "wow, that looks like shit", like we do with Warcraft 3 now, or even WoW in some areas. The graphics are absolutely solid if nothing else, and there's nothing immediately wrong with them.
Supreme Commander's art and graphics blow, son. Very generic shit going on in that game.
I won't comment on the design itself, but on a technical level at least.
Nah, watch teh cinimatic again. Tychus is huge.
Trust me, regardless of what Blizzard does every Korean internet Cafe that's worth shit WILL have Starcraft 2 ready computers. Otherwise they lose a lot of business.
Every blizzard game made is evidence against this statement. All of them have taken about 2 smart steps backwards from the graphical elite of the time, and settled for absolutely rock solid stylised graphics that do the job, look nice, and have the best performance, and then worked on the gameplay. They have never been on the cutting edge graphically, and they never will be on the cutting edge graphically, and this is a good thing, not a bad thing.
Starcraft 2's units appear to look very distinct, and very 'clean', much like the original game's sprites. They're foregoing detail, but since each unit is "clean" (see any Jaggies? Not me), they'll hold up well.
Going for the newest technology doesn't always work out.
For example, Heroes III used beautiful sprites to represent it's units, and, while not technically impressive, I think each unit is awesomely designed even today.
Heroes IV, however, used ugly as sin 3D Models.
I'd rather Starcraft 2 had as detailed graphics as, say, Company of Heroes, but I don't mind how it is now - and most likely, Starcraft 2's will look better eight years from now (when they release Starcraft 3).

Well, there are missions that have a squad of marines running around in just a section of one of them, so I think they're fairly large, bigger than say a 747 passenger jet. An aircraft carrier might be a good bet.
I bet you can buy the battle chest for like 10~20. Less if you hunt them down on ebay.
They showed them a few times in the cinemas. They are about that size. The cinema I remember is in that Brood War cinema where the battlecruiser is leaving the planet, and the Terran marines are fighting in that trench against zerglings. They look up and see it leave, and you can tell they're thinking, "well, this is great!"
As for the graphics, personally, I think they're perfect. They're not state-of-the art, but they'll hold up well. To be quite honest, the only Blizzard game that I can't stand to look at anymore is Warcraft 1. All the other games have such excellent art direction that the graphics hardly matter.
