This entire Jimquisition I was waiting for him to stop and say it's just a joke no this doesn't really matter this much to dedicate a full episode of a weekly show to it, and certainly not the boiling anger happening in reaction to it. And that never happened.

I mean, Jim pointed out that its unrealistic to have all 800 some odd pokemon in the game and he's just playing up his usual shtick cuz that's how he do, but I'm just sick of this whole "controversy"
Like, fucking relax, go outside, go for a walk or something
i have issues with the new pokemon but personally making a dex cut and having a curated list of pokemon in each game is what should have been done a while ago
especially with them supporting competitive pokemon play more and more, it's just More Interesting to shake up the list of what pokemon are in the meta via the process of rotating some out
the online structures are terrible, like every nintendo product
I've only kinda noticed cause I've spent to much money on tcgs recently but pokemon seems like a TCG with a upfront but in themetically and people like the collection aspect
But like a TCG a small percentage is actually "good" and pokemon cull/set rotation does force a.change from the conservative ways of meta game
It's kinda like at least to me if Konami made blue eyes decks banned or something, it's not a good deck it's old but people love those metal raider era cards even if they are mostly shit so they'd probs be real mad but like the games moved on (this is a bad example but the idea stands maybe I dunno)

I can appreciate the comparison to TCGs in that people can build a team of obscure Mons with rare abilities or egg moves that combine together to make it totally surprising and uber powerful.
I super don't care about the meta, and neither do 999 out of 1,000 people who play the game. My wife is into breeding and creating teams of perfect Mons, and she only cares about the themed tournaments where you can only use Ghost types or whatever. Putting those kinds of limits on tournaments makes them super interesting imo.
don't get me wrong, by pushing Catch 'Em All! for so long it makes complete sense that people are mad when the cord is finally cut
i just think that cord has to be cut, and there's no perfect way to do it. like sure they could have put bulbasaur and squirtle in. but then why not beedril. why not cubone. there's literally no list you can make that doesn't have someone annoyed. there's no list where you can say confidently "This is the right number."
you just have to make the decision somewhere, and why not here?
Dexit isn't a problem. There's 400 pokemons in the game and the other 600 will almost certainly be added either in an update when Pokemon Bank is integrated into the Switch system, or in the Ultra Sword / Ultra Shield version which will come out in a year. Having every single pokemon in a new game on a new system in a new visual format would have been remarkable and a massive selling point similar to Smash Bros Ultimate "Everyone's Here".
Game Freak focused on making the game itself new and fresh with new systems instead of just being Sun/Moon with 3D graphics and a new region. Sword/Shield is an excellent pokemon game and I would much rather have an excellent new pokemon game than an average new pokemon game with a complete dex.
I got as far as him complaining about his favourite boy being cut, which is Ekans. Ekans. He favourite boy is EKANS.
Ekans isn't even the best Poison type (which is clearly Trubbish). Jim has garbage Pokemon opinions.
Alternatively, Pokemon as a series takes less creative risks than fricking Call of Duty but any good faith attempt to point this out is always attacked by terrible arguments like "game development is a lot of work" or "lol they're kid's games so it's okay that they have all these issues and flaws".
Yeah, I've not been able to play through a full core Pokemon game since like the DS days, they're all far too samey. Out of like my top 10 Pokemon games literally none of them are from the core series.

I think the point was to use "I'm on it" as a double entendre to both say "I am working to combat meth addiction" and "I, a normal person, am literally on meth and saying so to destigmatize addiction", but it clearly didn't come across that well.

Meth. We’re on it. That deep blue Walter white shit that hits you like a ton of bricks, yeah, we are fucking on it.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Whoever mentioned James Acaster earlier, I want you to know that I've spent a good 7 hours doing nothing but watching "Would I Lie to You?" clips and it is almost entirely your fault.
isn't the whole point of the series albums that wrecked the artist/band's career to the point it never really recovered? Pinkerton was a pretty typical sophomore slump and doesn't seem to have meaningfully hurt Weezer in the long run. Even beyond that, while it wasn't well received at first, public opinion of it has improved over the years.
(I actually really like Pinkerton, as long as I pretend the lyrics are coming from a character Cuomo is playing or at least a very exaggerated version of himself)

It must have have destroyed the artist’s career. They are allowed to have recovered from it. Pinkerton destroyed Weezer’s career and Weezer itself. They didn’t release an album for five years. Rivers spent a number of those years locked in his home where he blacked out all of his windows and obsessively wrote and rewrote songs. Even after their return Rivers has never really been the same. He doesn’t write about anything personal anymore and doesn’t take the kind of musical leaps that define how Pinkerton sounds. He uses spreadsheets to write the most inoffensive songs he can.
It absolutely works as a trainwreckord but it’s also very interesting both because Weezer did recover in popularity eventually but also because after about 10 or 15 years there was a complete reversal of opinion on Pinkerton. People have started to swing back to hating it recently but 10 years ago it was wildly considered their best album.
Pinkertons original reviews were so bad and people turned around on it so hard that Rolling stone did a retraction and a new review in the 00s. That’s crazy.
Boris is back with how to make Doctors sausage which he's uses I quite a few of his other cooking vids. It's not as bad as I'd initially thought it would be considering the colour/texture of it:
