I just saw Old Stock, a klezmer musical about a pair of Jews escaping the pogroms and falling in love

I was crying from the very first scene and continued the whole way through

Fucking incredible. Incredible. Please go see this show if you get the chance.

Ben Caplan is an amazing musician and he frames the story as the wildly bearded storyteller and it's wonderful

Waffles and I are watching the directors cut of The Exorcist and boy this movie takes so long to get interesting. The giantbomb film and 40s stuff makes it much more watchable. Lots of slow tension buildup and the shots are really great but it doesn't feel very ominous.

It might have been a shocking movie in the 70s but you've been desensitized to horror thanks to M-rated video games. Projectile vomit is too tame when you've been chased by naked cannibals in an overrun asylum.

I keep looking at books and they all seem impossibly high stakes

Sometimes you don't wanna read about plucky protagonists and vast conspiracies that decide the Fate of the World as We Know It, but like, smaller scale stuff

Maybe the conspiracy only controls, like, a city block or whatever. IDK.

Well I mean, it's very disjointed in some ways.
a large part of the movie so far is the mystery of the death of someone who fell out the window of the possessed girl, but they never showed that happen. In any way! It's weird.

Tortilla Española, which is sliced potatoes, onions, garlic, and egg. A delicious appetizer that takes a lot of work to get right as there's a lot of layering and flipping to get everything cooked correctly.

    Well it looks delicious.

Haven't dived deep enough to really get a proper feel for it yet, but initial impressions of AI War 2 now that I've actually fired it up is I like what they've done with making your units. First game you had a bigass pile of factories shitting out ships on repeat, and then you need to manually grab the ships and add them to your hotkey'd fleet to send into the grinder. Now you have a central transport ship, you tell it which ships you want it to carry and as long as it is in range of a factory it will automatically build those ships up to its capacity.

It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

The file for the film in the MPAA/PCA Collection at the AMPAS Library contains a letter, dated August 18, 1931, in which the Hays Office informed Universal that its only concerns about the film were "gruesome [scenes] that will certainly bring an audience reaction of horror."
