It's a Canadian sitcom centered on a small fictional town in Ontario.

The best approximation I could give of it is a mixture of King of the Hill, It's Always Sunny, and The Red Green Show.

Sometimes I think about how long it takes for a road construction or renovation to do literally anything, then I consider how much road there is in the country and world. And it doesn't add up.

It is spectacularly good. It's heavy on intellectualism, inclusivity, sex positivity while also focusing on small town life. The show's won multiple awards over several years for a good reason.

My favorite pothole right now is about 20 inches wide, 10 long or so. Sharp edges in the asphalt to a depth of between 3-5 inches, it varies a bit. But in the middle there was a water valve thingy, so there's a steel cylinder with a flat lid standing in the middle of it. You can use the cylinder to pass over the pothole without too much of a bump which is pretty funny.

It's good that it's not motorcycle season because that would be rough to pass over.

My second favorite pothole is the one that's got pretty smoothed edges then like over a gradient let's say 30 inches or so it passes over to a tarlike substance but it's not really tar because it's ethereal. The color is a perfectly light absorbing black, you can sometimes see faint images of stars from a universe with different laws of physics than ours. You can go around the pothole pretty problem free but about once a week a tentacle reaches out and pierces someone's torso, dragging them like a terrified ragdoll over to the abyss.

I would like to at some point go to North Brother Island where that probably haunted, nature reclaimed, sanatorium is.

But then it's just like any other sitcom!

Letterkenny is different from other sitcoms in that it is *extremely* scripted. The characters all talk very fast and without inflection. It is jarring at first, but then your brain kind of adapts to it after a bit. Some of the side characters are intentionally one-note and repetitive for comedy. It's a strange show! Not really comparable to Always Sunny I'd say, it's closer to King of the Hill.

    Other way around.

The characters drink, smoke, do drugs, get in to fights. The main character has an odd mix of regressive and progressive views about gender and relationships. He dislikes women spitting but also trusts his romantic partners without hesitation.

It's the sort of show where when alt right nazis show up to protest a team name change and insult the indigenous people there, the hicks show up in support of the natives to kick the nazis' asses.

It's the sort of show where the main character's younger sister is the reigning adult spelling bee champ that he and most of the town emphatically supports, with the spelling bee being a major event rivaling any sports game. Meanwhile in the background people are illegally gambling and cheating to affect the outcome.

The characters will sit around a produce stand drinking beer and smoking pot while exchanging high quality word play.

It's the greatest gift to comedy out of Canada since Ryan Reynolds.

For example, if new Jersey were in Colorado and floated down a river it would be legal. But if it touched the bank, or anchored that would be trespassing.

Meanwhile in Utah on a lot of rivers it couldn't even float the river.
