I'm in the spot where I might have to find a new refrigerator. I've selected this GE refrigerator. But I can't find any reviews or some sort guide. I recently picked up a consumer reports magazine to see if they are up to par--IMHO they aren't.

Anyhow I think I want this one.

Does anyone know if home depots warrantee is really all its cracked up to be. Also if anyone can recommend any refrigerators from $1,000 to $1,500. I would be very appreciative.

Thanks.

    I'd steer clear of anything with electronic controls, seriously. I did appliance repair for a number of years and electronic controls were both the most common, and the most expensive thing to go wrong(in new machines). Stick with the bare bones, the more expensive ones just add stupid features, for example;
    A new expensive GE ref has an ice maker that has a thermistor that makes sure the tray is cold enough before allowing water to come in, and then it kicks the timer on.
    A less expensive one, just has the water come in, in timed intervals.

    Guess which one we worked on more cause the stupid thermistor kept crapping out?

    Seriously keep it simple, look on the inside if it has all the fancy digital read outs, steer clear, those boards are about $200 a pop.

    My advice is whirlpool(or roper or kitchen aid, they're all the same) while they still have work done, the parts are cheapest and they seem a whole lot more reliable(which again goes back to the lack of features).

    Hope that was semi helpful.
