PSA about the Pokeball Plus controller: If you are thinking of getting one, either for yourself or as a present for someone else, I suggest you move fast.
Sword and Shield are the fastest selling Switch games ever, and the PbP is a neat peripheral that adds functionality to the game and gives you an extra pokemon (Mew) that you can't get any other way. But, Nintendo being Nintendo, they haven't made any new PbPs to keep up with demand. The only ones available right now are the random handfuls of stock leftover from the Let's Go! Pikachu/Eevee games. I managed to get one today at the third store I visited this week, and it was the last one left on the shelf. These things will be gone well before Christmas.
Oh, and only new PbPs have Mew in them, so keep that in mind if you're thinking of buying second-hand.

My one regret is that Mareanie came so late in the game. I beat the main story and immediately thought it would be fun to restart and use basically entirely different pokemon for a new run, but the choice of level 1 pokemon is just small. I'd like to use a Ralts and level it through natural use and make a kung-fu psychic, and to use an apple from low level and make it a dragon and blahblah etc. but I'm not sure you can do any of that.
Or can you? I'll be the first to admit I'm very not into how the pokemon systems work unless the game has told me.
I didn't field a water type in my team. There's a few good picks from older gens though: Cloyster, Lapras, Gyarados, Golisopod, Jellicent, and my personal favorite Water type, Milotic.

Some species of Pokemon are more difficult to catch than others.
Be higher level than Pokemon, get them low, get status on them. Them's the rules!!!

You are at a steep disadvantage if you are under their level
And this gen has a lot of pokes with catch rates just out there

Keep one high-level mon in your team at all times and bring them out when you start throwing balls. They don't have to do any attacks, just their presence is usually enough to spook your target into staying caught.
Yeah I got my gmax meowth to 100 and I just lead with it if the quick ball don't catch em I can just spam ultra balls till it works or do it the old fashioned way

They were on sale for $20 during Black Friday. The fact you were able to find one still afterwards tells me they're not all that popular.
I'm in Australia, they're trying their best to make Black Friday a thing here but it hasn't really taken off yet.

I actually couldn't get them to switch when I changed the clock but I might not been doing it right
