I dunno, I like the idea of needing to actually account for light. Right now lights feel really superfluous.

Yea the giant lights on poles are going to come in real handy. Also signs now emit light so that will help too. Hopefully we get more light items as well added in. I bet there will be some good mods.
My only real concern there is lights can really hammer the games performance, especially if you're using some of the more reflective surfaces.
But also I don't tend to build my bases with covers, so even at night stuff is pretty visible so??
Lumen should actually help with light performance since UE5 is built with it mind from the ground up. It’ll take a while I’m sure though before Satisfactory can fully take advantage of it.
They definitely said Lumen wouldn't be supported in this update. Seems like it can be a lot of work to get everything set up for it (maybe less if you start from scratch in UE5, but that's not the case here). I expect it to improve before 1.0 but it may never be officially supported.
I tend to half finish factories, at least for anything I expect to tear down and rebuild I don't put much thought into things like walls or a roof and I haven't spent much time at the endgame to fix that.
I just don't bother building vertical factories as I find getting them to look like anything that's not an ugly brick to be exhausting. And there's so much space on the map, my exploded factory approach works out well.
The power towers with the zipline are an incredibly powerful traversal tool, total game changer from the giant floating concrete ramps everywhere. As soon as I unlocked them I went and ziplined my way from the Grass Fields up to the mountain cliffs along the Red Bamboo Forest and over to some quartz nodes by just leapfrogging from high point to high point. Zipline is no longer useless, plus I get power wherever I go!
Oh, nice. I've been poking around in 7 a bit, but kinda waiting for update 8 and being able to tinker with some of the settings - and tinker more with blueprints. (Strongly considering getting a mod that makes for some bigger blueprint creators, as the current 4x4x4 works great for a lot of stuff, but really sucks when you're doing something with like Refineries or anything bigger.
One thing I'd really like to see is a better alignment indicator/selector when placing pieces, especially when placing on the ground. Maybe there is a better way of doing it, but if I want a subfactory out in the middle of no where aligned with my main set of factories, I have to run a road out there and build out from there which... can be fun.

When placing a foundation on the ground, if you hold down the button that will snap things to foundations, it'll snap to the world grid.

I think if you hold shift when placing it aligns to the world grid.
How many of you chose to restart factories for the new updates vs try and update your old ones? I was at the point I was starting to produce computers and the like at a small scale automagically. I also kind of want to have some infrastructure ready for Fixmas as we've always been late to the party.

My main world is over 1.5k hours old. The ask the factories have been ripped apart and redone repeatedly, I don't give a fuck. Usually it's for asthetic reasons or other challenges
I started playing with Update 3 when it hit Steam and I'm still on that save game I started that very day. Granted I haven't played in an age.

I start over pretty much every time a major update drops. Partially because I find the early bootstrapping up to coal fun, largely because I have no idea what the hell I was thinking nine months ago and have trouble parsing the sprawl, and mostly because every time I start out thinking "baby please, I can change, this time it'll be different. I'll use trains instead of ten-mile conveyor belts and there won't be no spaghetti."

Fortunately Satisfactory, not modded Factorio so I'm still in the methadone clinic.
Got to coal power and working toward T3 Hab stuff and T4 unlocks. Realized my main factory wasn't actually properly oriented with the map grid.
Guess I'm rebuilding from scratch but at least properly oriented, and my 300mw of Coal power that was untouched should make this go not too slowly.

Yea, same. The function exists though! It was such a QOL improvement when they added it.

Remembered how finicky fluids could be setting up my coal plants.
As always, the game is an absolute addiction.

Never actually finished the space elevator and only went nuclear in my most recent save. Usually I drop out somewhere after basic aluminum refining.
