[Hearthstone] THIS THREAD IS DEAD. POST IN THE NEW ONE!
You know the shaman leggo weapon that summons legendaries for the cost of the spell you cast?
Shamans been running that with 1 cost spells to generate the priest pre-prime, but i found that the 2 mana slot is chockfull of other classes pre-primes as well.
I cobbled up an overload/lacky/totem spell deck that currently still has galakrond stuff in it (Don't do it kids!) It runs everything that synergizes with lacks and overload.
I swear i went 3/3 in legend even with this janky version. Just removing stuff and filling my board with pre-primes and double manatide toteming through my deck. Gonna seriously tinker with it today. Lose the galakrond package and craft the overload leggo.
Ok not gonna craft the overload leggo. That thing is 4 mana?!!??
I swore it was 2 but coulden't find it lol

I'm enjoying bomb control warrior because of shit like risky skipper + a fully charged up blastmaster boom on an empty board, into my opponent drawing 3 bombs in a row
This happened to a priest who had taken very special care of his precious life total all game and just got nuked down in an instant
The secret ingredient is Grommash, I personally don't like Greenskin because it dilutes the Ancharr pool so I use the 3 mana EVIL 2/3 guy instead that gives a lackey and armor
HCT lists seem a lot more solved this week. An off meta choice here and there but the only interesting one is Shaxy's Inner Fire list, which is also the only Priest this week.
Made the push to dad legend tonight. Just stuck it out with DH. I figured might as well before round 4(?) of nerfs kicks in, and since the games are fast. I think I only lost 1 game, and, more triumphantly, I even beat a Highlander Hunter for the first time in forever. All it took was playing the one deck that actually has a favorable matchup against it and them not having the nut curve that they almost always seem to, and merely a good curve instead.
Final boss was a Quest Warlock who had a pretty nutty game. They drew both Broodmothers before the first plot twist (getting full heal value each time), then plot twisted 2 turns in a row to finish quest on turn 6. They healed for at least 20 in, IIRC, less than 10 turns. I think what pushed me to the win was I was able to discover a second Metamorphosis off my Vulpera for some extra reach before they really started dumping out big threats and as I was running out of gas.
I'm pretty confident we'll get a 4th set of DH nerfs. They might wait until after the mid expac adventure to see if that changes stuff but I doubt it will greatly.
I'm baffled that Team 5 didn't know their own game better - clearly evident from the DH cards they crafted. It's still completely busted after 3 rounds of nerfs.

if you're still surprised by team 5 being unable to balance their video game in the entire history of hearthstone...........
Getting to high plat should be pretty easy, as the people who were in diamond/legend the previous season are still on bonus stars at that rank and should still be playing games at their mmr, not the rank shown.
Diamond 10 is a little harder, you have some people down at the rank floor playing some weird off-meta decks that will occasionally just pull off a greedy as hell win, but once you get to 9-8, people go back to meta picks.
Getting to diamond 5 can be a slog, though the win streaks stars from 10-6 help a lot. Also be prepared to occasionally get legend players in this rank if they are losing a ton of games due to experimentation.
Yeah, once you're out of bonus, gaining 5 ranks is the equivalent of gaining 3 ranks under the old system. While you're at an x3+ multiplier, climbing is pretty fast and breezy.
HCT season is done except for the playoffs, so here's our final week of actual stats.
Week 7, 29th-31st
Playing field is trimmed down to 6 decks; Warrior and DH with any combination of Questlock, Spell Druid, Galakrond Rogue, and Reno Hunter.
Questlock did alright but not as spectacularly as last week. Everything else is performing the same as previously, Warrior and DH tearing up the place and Druid getting dunked on.
I wanted to see how the patch affected tourney meta so here's stats for HCT Week 5 and 6.
Week 5, 15th-17th:
Week 6, 22nd-24th:
Big trend away from non-DH aggro decks toward slower stuff. Last week's lineups were primarily Warrior + DH + Zoo/Face Hunter + Galakrond/Reno/Druid while this week's were more Warrior + DH + 2 of Galakrond/Reno/Druid/Questlock. Deck preference seems region dependent; SEA likes Druid, EU likes Galakrond, and NA likes Reno.
For specific lists, Enrage Warrior is probably going to eat a ban or take a win if it isn't. It got a little less ban respect this week and didn't win quite as much but was still a top performer.
Aggro DH has cut both its nerfed cards for Vulpera Scoundrels and Sightless Watchers. It was a middle of the pack performer last week despite its popularity but cleaned house this week, farming Spell Druid in particular and flipping its Priest matchups.
Zoo and Face Hunter dropped off the map entirely after their nerfs. Reno Hunter is now the fastest non-DH list and seems to be doing a decent job in that capacity.
Quest and Galakrond Warlock are seeing some play now that Zoo isn't using the class slot. They greatly overperformed, with a single loss to DH and even a couple bans.
Spell Druid tanked hard this week and got farmed by pretty much everything. It seems to be struggling against the slower lists and the trimmer DH. Priest also had a rough week, basically only winning in the Spell Druid dogpile. Lastly, Seiko's weird anti-aggro Warrior seems a week too late meta-wise. It did get a ban in one set but the second set his opponent didn't bring DH and it went 0-2.
And if anyone wants some peak Hearthstone, the end of Pavel v Rdu Game 2 was something else:
I have twitch open basically any time I'm at my PC so I used to watch Hearthstone and Overwatch when they were on and there wasn't a streamer I was interested in. Now I watch zero Overwatch and I didn't even realize the HCT season was going on until week 4, which is kind of crazy for someone as tuned into the game as I am.

Don't worry, everyone. All is right with the world again. 0-3, all turn 1 losses today, two of which were against the omnipresent HHHs (Highroll Highlander Hunters). The other was Egg Warrior. All 3 opponents went first, had 1 drops and curved like crazy. Sure "played" some Hearthstone tonight!

It doesn't help that they don't promote it, like, at all. The launcher never seems to say anything about it and there's never any notifications in game or anything.

I don’t know why they don’t bother. It’s not as if people don’t watch Hearthstone. The numbers have declined but it is still a healthy community.
Maybe they just want to focus on Overwatch pro play.
Is it bad that I thought Darkest Hour was a Wild-only card???

I hit Dad Legend (Plat 5) with that Darkest Hour deck. Its great against any deck that wants to go face and any control that doesn't have more than 2 board wipes. Its bad against Priest. Like really bad against Priest.
Er, nvm, Diamond 5 is dad legend. I've got a ways to go.
edit2: I think its real strength is that it is basically an auto-win vs Rogue. And has a really decent matchup against DH.
I got the Play 20 Murlocs quest, and I see this week's Brawl is a Murloc based one. Good timing on that!

The new brawl is incredibly swingy. basically if you get the Murloc that gives you random murlocs when you play a murloc (underbelly angler?), you win. Or sometimes you win through overpowered spells. Like in my last game where I Mana Binded a Skull of Guldan and just won off that.
Meanwhile, I played DH in the Brawl and for spells I got the one that copies a demon and 2 of the one that's like Blade Flurry after I'd replaced my hero power with the one to summon a Murloc and no way to give myself attack damage. So... total crapshoot.

BGs have devolved into who gets the double mackerel. I know people complain about this all the time but a single minion shouldn't be so gamewarping, even if it is tier 6 and needs some additional support to go off (basically only poison).
The problem also is that the game then comes down to random chance. You can win if you just snipe the mackerels at the right times but that doesn't even feel good, because that's not even counterplay like buying a zapp or a ghoul, it's just "are you lucky? No? See you next game".
In my last game I was at full health until the top 2 (pyramad with the stay at 1 and scale sauralisk strategy which I transitioned to some sort of beast/deathrattle thing without seeing a single baron rivendare). And the other guy was a rafaam who took 3 battles to kill me, because he only had the double poison mackerel after the second battle. And I've been on the other side often enough, it just gets boring.
Also demons are way to weak now. Scaling wrathweaver is worse than scaling sauralisk and moving that self harm demon to 4 killed it. Juggler is still good in the midgame but you can't kill people fast enough in my experience. So someone inevitably gets one of the endgame comps and just crushes you. Maybe they should just take them out for a while, would also be a buff to rat king.
DH has bounced back and is once again the most popular class. T1 is DH, Bomb and Enrage Warrior, and Reno Hunter. Pirate Warrior only turned out to be T2.
Looking at the matchup spread changes between the first nerfs (2nd week of May on top) and now (bottom), I'm doubtful that even a fourth set of nerfs will be enough, we're probably going to need a fifth.

One thing at least is to fix it so that if both mackerel have shield and lose it simultaneously (from a ghoul) they don't both get it back. Neither should have it then.

Also it occurred to me the other day: we have somehow never had a card for Mannoroth.
I've opened about 40 packs since then so the pity timer should kick in.
Years later, it still feels good.

This deck is hilarious and has taken me to Plat 8 in a very short time. We'll see how far this can go.
