So... did something happen in the game recently? Just a couple of weeks ago I was doing really well, got my 1.00 KD ratio, was getting a good number of wins. But in the last week, it's like suddenly I'm terrible. I can't get a kill to save my life. That KD I mentioned has dropped from 1.05 to 0.91 in the last week. I'm playing about as much as I've been, on the same PC with the same setup. I simply cannot figure out what's happened.
Skill-based match making might be putting you up against better players. Also sometimes I just have bad games and need to take a break. They also upped the TTK back up so that each shield type got +25 HP.

vagaries of fate, really
sometimes you have days where you're on and doing most things right and some days you can't get a kill to save your life and drop first 5 minutes every time for 10 games in a row
Solid game where we landed Airbase, immediately grabbed whatever was near and went Gauntlet since only 1 team landed there. Caught that team flat-footed, then looted up and headed on east towards ring. Ran into the cave area in between Market and River after hearing shots, came up on a team that had just finished a fight, attacked and got a down on them then got caught from behind by another team. Against all odds, we managed to tough it out by taking out the team pushing on us from behind then fending off the team we had originally attacked coming back for revenge. The enemy broke and ran as ring was coming in, then my friend on Bloodhound got a good shot on their Lifeline who was slow to get out for a down; we manage to finish off the other two and loot just in time to get out with ring burning our asses, then get into Cage as one of 3 squads left.
We creep up onto the ring edge when we see one of the other two teams hiding on the edge and standing still at the forested cliffsides in between Cage and Labs, and I start off with a headshot + followup for about 150-160 with my Triple Take on their Lifeline and we charge in. It turns out to just be a team of two but we loot up and see the last team coming out of the Labs portal and flying east, so we cautiously head east when I get lit up by the enemies who ran back into Labs. I drop down to heal, and the enemy team splits completely with 1 jumping onto the ground area in front of Labs door to run towards us, one staying on the middle section to snipe, and one hanging back to snipe as they try to get a push. We trade some shots and then I drop back to heal again after exchanging sniper fire, then my Bloodhound friend calls out that they're trying to push despite them having the better position ringwise. We decide to just rotate towards the northeast on top of the Lab bunker doors so we can get around and in towards ring, and we get there just as the enemy team pushes on our former position. We fall back while exchanging shots, and the enemy team's thirstiness works against them when they're now the ones on the outside and they end up having to run in with ring while we're looking at them coming in on the ground at Labs. My friends bust them up and I throw two frags far hoping to get lucky, which works when I land a snipe on the Revenant coming in just as he walks into one of my nades for an instadown. The Bloodhound and Lifeline remaining take cover behind a crate, but i have an angle on them as the Lifeline tries to peek us and I light her up as my teammates push and quickly drop her. We finish off the Bloodhound for a clean win.

Having the exact same feeling. Went from 1.08 to .095 this week. Which also happened last season to me. I think it is a combination of both matchmaking placing you in harder matches, and the playerbase dropping as the season progresses.
Still, you get a random W now and then which can keep you going.

Meanwhile the very idea of having a KD above 1 is a distant fantasy to me! (Though it has been more or less trending upwards, to be fair.)
Sometimes I even remember that the PS4 has a video recording feature so I can save matches which I felt went decently, like this one!
Bit of a weird game as we landed uncontested in lava dome cleaned that place out, cycled down to the rocket launch site, and then moved onto the sorting factory/train station, by which point there were only three squads left, the rest of the map must have been a bloodbath! Things got kinda sloppy towards the end when I forgot to keep track of the ring timer, but I was pretty pleased with how things went, didn't feel like I got totally carried at least.

always feels satisfying when you managed to get 1/3+ of the lobby, like you get the extra "I put the work in for it" on top of the victory glow
armed and dangerous was pretty fun, hope to see some of the LTMs that i missed when they showed up first time around. definitely hope they fix Dummy's Big Day
I have learned I am terrible at it and may not like it.

I personally think Dummies Big Day is a nice break from the usual Apex in that hitboxes are completely uniform and there's not much in the way of skills so it's all about fundamentals of moving and shooting basically
obviously it would probably wear out its welcome if it was around for a long time since a lot of what gives Apex its zest is the legends themselves but as a LTM it's pretty good imo
I can somewhat see the appeal from a distance. And yeah, all LTM bring some spice to the table just for mix-up.
But what I enjoy the most out of Apex is the character interactions/personalities, the specific skills and how they play into your team or personal preference, and how fights can become divergent based on positioning and planning and skills.
This mode removes one chunk of that.
I think the real aggravation to me is the decrease in communication. Yes, pings still appear on the side of the screen, but the lack of stronger audio cues from voice-over causes me to miss things in the heat of moving/looting/shooting that would otherwise be heard by listening for team-mate voices. I feel much more isolated and uninformed than in the base mode.
Again, which can work to the LTM appeal. I just found it wasn't clicking with me. I had plenty of matches last night where I felt totally powerless and alone, and lost quickly. I had one match where we steamrolled dudes and I had like 6+ kills and we won without much effort, and I can't easily articulate why things were different in those matches.
I know what you mean. Made it to Gold III for the first time last night (S5 I peaked at Gold IV). I doubt I'll push much beyond that, even if Platinum might be within my grasp, I don't really have the time to commit to it.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

Hah, I've been dipping into ranked myself lately, though only cos I had both the 'place in the top 5 five times' and 'ten times' weekly challenges up together, and the number of games I wound up with 0 ranked points doesn't bear mentioning!
Speaking of weekly challenges it's kinda weird that there's one for getting allies to use Pathfinder's zipline 10 times but the equivalent for Wraith has you needing people to zip through your portal 15 times, I wonder what the logic is there given Wraith's portal takes way longer to charge? I guess it's more tactically flexible and you're more likely to go back and forth through it maybe.
The RE45 absolutely wrecks if you have an extended mag, I decided to use it in a match. Only found a lv2 mag, but got a gold muzzle and I managed to grab my first 2000 damage badge!
It was also with Wattson which I only unlocked a week ago, so it's going to look like I boosted that badge :P

Holy shit a couple of fun matches tonight with "Live. Die. Live."
Two or three wins (I think two?), one on Lifeline, one on Loba. Lifeline win involved a two or three minute battle in bunker where we defended against 4 or 5 separate teams. They all tried to third party each other, and we'd peak out of the doors, toss throwables, our Caustic gassed them, and we just kept holding the line. My team-mates dropped several times, but Lifeline's quick res saved the day over and over again, and we persisted until we had to flee due to the ring. We went on to win later, another time of Lifeline's revive being clutch and helping us survive the last fight against two enemy teams. Her res shield remains insanely powerful.
The Loba win showcased her bracelet and how the mode works with revives. At least twice in the match Loba's bracelet saved the day, letting me narrowly escape while my team-mates were downed(one early game at absolutely no health, another later while dodging and weaving sniper shots at about 50% health). But useful bracelet moves let me evade both times, escape, regroup, and wait for the team to respawn on ring close. The final fight basically was decided by me surviving for my team to revive, even though the Lifeline couldn't find a weapon in our small circle near runoff. But she ran in and punched a dude down, while other team-mate found a random weapon and third-partied while I healed from an additional kill, and we collapsed on the last enemy team-mate, a lone Lifeline running for any kind of safety that did not come.
I enjoy that in this mode, you can recover simply by escaping. Not having to recover banners and use a respawn beacon makes it easier to rotate and survive mistakes, and I enjoy this mode way more than Dummies Big Day or Sniper/Shotties.
(Xbox isn't uploading clips properly, sadly.)

i'm not going to lie I thought Live Die Live would be a lot more dynamic than "your team respawns on you when the ring finishes closing"
that's a lot of time doing nothing by dead team mates depending on how early you died and it...doesn't feel great imo

Yeah, it's kinda neat how it changes up how you might want to engage/flee from a fight, but most of the time it's just a normal match pretty much. I would've preferred to see some sort of instant respawn, or a shorter timer, so you'd have people frantically raining down trying to find guns, ah well!

i was hoping for like minute timer respawns to really encourage mass chaos, yeah
"The centerpiece of this mode are Flash Points, massive zones dotted around towns in Kings Canyon. Flash Points are special because they regenerate your health and shields over time to get you healed and ready for combat in a flash (ba dum-tss). Learn where these are quickly because healing items do not spawn in this mode - Flashpoints are crucial to helping you stay alive.
However, every other squad in the arena is going to have the same idea. These zones are going to create massive multi-squad fights that bring the feeling of a team deathmatch to Apex Legends, complete with health regeneration that evokes some of our favorite classic first person shooters.
Additionally, the circle in this mode follows Always Be Closing rules - it never stops closing, and it will always close on a Flash Point, making that final fight even more exciting. In lieu of med kits, you’ll be able to craft Phoenix Kits at Crafting Replicators - for a price."

Sounds pretty damn cool. I've not actually played an ABC map yet, I think it was on a small hiatus on the last one. The only actual healing (phoenix) kits being available exclusively in Replicators is a great idea too. Replicators are a nice addition, but they're certainly not something to fawn over in a normal mode. Now, they're going to be a major attraction for every squad on the map.

Had a pair of good matches today; the first one was nonstop running from the ring, crashing into fights and spraying bullets and screaming as we rammed through, without any time to loot but somehow emerging victorious each time until we won.
The next game we kept scanning the next circle and taking out a team as they came towards us, until it was down to one other team. We killed one of them, and then the other two... disappeared. Our Crypto's drone couldn't find them, we searched over, under, behind everything, and then suddenly on the last circle they were standing on the platform we went under to look for them. We couldn't shoot through it, so we just stared at each other while the circle closed to nothingness and everybody died.
Patch notes are up for tomorrow's event. I'll link the full set later but pathfinder is getting a tasty change @Local H Jay
"Grapple cooldown is now based on the distance Pathfinder traveled. The shortest possible pull has a 10s cooldown; the maximum cooldown is still 35s, but you're going to have to swing a very long distance to get there. Have fun out there, friends!"
Pathfinder and Wraith apparently are still so statistically better than everyone it's amazing that those kits just seem like they will remain top tier.
Loba getting a buff, but the bracelet still seems like it is what needs work. The Ult charges really quickly, and I guess the new buff will help you get your first solid loot fast. But that also invites murder really quickly.
I'm curious what it would take for a new character to be introduced that can like dethrone Wraith. Then again, folks wouldn't want to abandon their mains regardless, probably.
If they just disable the Naruto run animation she'd be a lot less popular
Guess what's changing tomorrow!
I know that's probably gonna make so many people mad, but it's a welcome change.
Also in Warzone you actually have two sprints, there's a Burst Sprint and Constant Sprint. The constant sprint is the normal walking to running speed increase. But double tapping sprint allows you to Burst which is a much faster sprint but only works for a few seconds and then is on a cool down. This helps in Warzone because max run speed can only be hit with a pistol out or doing Burst.
Apex could use something like that, since you're constantly putting guns away to run faster anyways. Have Wraith's old animation be the burst animation

They should just make everybody naruto run for parity. I think it's probably a good change to make, but I will certainly miss her dumb animation.
Loba buff seems fine, the increased range on thief vision won't hurt, but I don't know that it's particularly enough to make her 'competitive' or whatever. I wonder if it'd be too busted if they just removed the audio visual cue on her ultimate, so you could loot without being immediately detected, given she's supposed to be a sneaky burglar and such.

57416 Kills
3758 Wins
12,899,265 Damage
I'm like, Gold Ranked at best, but this person is in my MMR for unranked? Really Respawn?
His pathfinder teammate only had a pathetic 15,000 kills by comparison
To put this in further perspective, this person has averaged ~96 kills per day since the game came out 598 days ago.
And that's only the 129th highest Lifeline kill count according to Apex Stat Tracker
