I'm going to break away from the expressed attitude here and say I am pretty excited for it.

Most of the time I want a 90 minute movie. Short, sweet, concise.

But other times I want a colossal film.

So Zack Snyder offering me four hours of Ben Affleck as Batman? Yeah, I'll take that.

    I have Lagaan for that.

Well, aside from 4 hours of Batfleck, which doesn't sound bad at all.

    I just... I don't know what's interesting about Affleck's Batman here

I can take a beating on all kinds of stuff that I like that other people have no interest in, it goes both ways, but he's such a void. He's so bored, like everyone else in that film

There is nothing in Snyder's worldview or sense of style to draw me in anymore

I don't know if it has been posted in here yet, but here is the official trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League.

    WARNING: FOR ADULTS ONLY

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6512XKKNkU

Everyone watch out, I know jimmy told you it’s for adults only, but I just watched this trailer and I’m pretty sure I aged ten years. It is adult AF.

Also the scene of Momoa tearing off his shirt right when Cohen says is hallelujah fucking hilarious.

I wouldn’t mind afflecks Batman if it was in a different movie. It’s an interesting more world weary one, but with everyone else in the movie being so anti fun, it doesn’t add very much to the movie.

Man the tone of this trailer just doesn't work at all. Just feels a series of randomly selected scenes loosely timed to the music. Really making me think that the weird offness of a lot of JL's scenes were Snyders doing.

I still think the CG on Cyborg looks really really bad.

I know it's the argument about going back to practical effects because of the limits of green screen. But when they started to use computers practical effects were at the zenith so what has been lost of that skill?

Old articles from last year said he’d be played by Steve Agee but apparently he might not be.

Wow, I'd missed out on a lot of the cast news. Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman looks great, Colin Farrell as Penguin is unrecognizable, Paul Dano as Riddler just sounds perfect, and Jeffrey Wright can do anything he pleases and I'll watch it. Andy Serkis as Alfred is unexpected, but he's also fun to watch.

    well....it may be
I thought it was obviously the riddler. but then again Hush is the riddler renaming himself, so maybe they can do without the whole silly green outfit from the start.

It was good for them to leave it open for release in 2031, you never know

Wait, so the DC movie they came out with took "liberties" with the character?

  • ChicoBlueChicoBlue Registered User regular
I seem to vaguely recall that in the comic book
A new childhood friend of Bruce's is introduced and they had fun as children but something happened. Also, coincidentally, there is a new villain in town and he is a mummy man.

I had to look up the plot of the animated movie but yeah
Hush in the comics is Dr. Thomas Eliot, a childhood friend of Bruce's. No Riddler connection

  • KalTorakKalTorak One way or another, they all end up in the Undercity.Registered User regular
    IIRC
in the original comic, Riddler came up with the whole plan etc but Hush himself was Tommy Elliot, some childhood friend of Bruce Wayne's that had never been mentioned before.

did that change in the animated version?

  • ChicoBlueChicoBlue Registered User regular
I think I still have my Hush comics somewheres.

I remember Jim Lee having fun with some watercolours in them.

Yes, but the comics version is kind of dumber.

  • ProhassProhass Registered User regular
I was thinking they’d end up doing Batman beyond as a into the spider verse kind of animated film

I think this one looks awesome and extremely my thing, but I get that people are getting sick of the reboots or different takes on the same basic thing. But the atmosphere and tone look like my jam
