I’d be down for a Batman beyond movie but I’m also down for this movie. It’s not as if we have run out of interesting Batman takes. We are literally just getting around to “hey what if he was a detective?”.

Okay, two key points here. Out September 3rd "where theaters are open", which is a phrase I have never seen in a trailer before in my life. And also, the description of the movie from the video description: "John David Washington is the new Protagonist in Christopher Nolan’s original sci-fi action spectacle “Tenet.”
Armed with only one word—Tenet—and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time. Not time travel. Inversion."
The Protagonist? With a capital letter? Are you guys... screwing with us or what?

I didn't even like that song before it became the soundtrack to the least watchable sex scene in history
I mean, as a fan of Leonard Cohen, I disagree, but I understand it being prominently featured in Shrek might have ruined it a little
shrek version was by rufus wainright and also better than the cohen version
*pushes up glasses* uh ahem I think you'll find that Rufus Wainright did the version featured in the album Shrek: Music from the Motion Picture, but that the movie itself features a version by John Cale
A big thing about the The Batman trailer that I'm not seeing brought up a lot: Batman is just walking around a crime scene alongside the police.
Been awhile since we've had a story where he's presented as accepted. Maybe Batman & Robin?
We had a glimmer of it in The Dark Knight, but yeah.

I think the thing I liked best about The Batman trailer is the two extra, uncontrolled swings the Bat takes on that low-level mook
Like, we've seen portrayals of Batman where he'll go overboard on a supervillain who has wronged him, or whatever. But this dude was a nobody. "I am vengeance" is a potentially corny line, but it is attached to him unleashing an unrestrained attack on a significantly weaker foe, in a really unhealthy way.
And then you've got a villain specifically calling Batman out. You've got that "If you are justice, please do not lie, what is the price, for your blind eye?" stuff. Pair that with the shots of Batman welcome at a crime scene, and there's the potential for the question of, "Why is this unhinged vigilante ignored and/or encouraged by police?"
I mean, trailers are trailers. I dunno if they'll actually get into that. But there's enough nuance, enough possibility, that I'm more curious about a Batman movie than I have been in a grip.

It is incredibly unlikely but I would love to see a Batman movie with a view on police that matches the perception that the protests have provided.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Yeah. I know it's a Batman movie, and he'll almost certainly be "forgiven" or "justified" or something. But that there's even a chance that this could say something new/interesting about Batman* is kinda exciting.
*(In film. I know comics explore a lot of different turf, take a lot of angles, etc.)

I may have to choke someone if they do yet another slow mo shot on Martha Wayne’s fucking pearls.

it's weird that zack snyder went after that guy specifically given that that dude apparently really likes zack snyder's movies? like, he's so eager to fight back against critics that he just sicced his fanboys on this dude that is like, "I think batman v superman is great!"
I mean, dude seems to be rolling with it just fine, but hell, dude, feels like it should be enough that you get to do a four hour cut of your movie, you know? he won this fight, already

It when from desaturated to resatuated, to desatuated again. What the fuck
Zack Snyder coming out the other side of his family tragedy as an even edgier and more egotistical version of himself just makes me endlessly sad. That feels really, really unfortunate.
I still can't fully wrap my head around Zack Snyder having some of the most ride or die fans ever.
He makes movies aimed at 14 year-olds that indulges some of your worst instincts at that age and appear philosophically complex while also being very simple. So he indulges teenagers and then tells them you’re smart if you like his movies. I’m not surprised.
Which is not to say that I’m slinging any shit at people who still do like his movies. Not like I don’t enjoy stuff for kids and teens as well.

Glancing at his Justice League review he did compare it to a cartoon and considers it a good-bad movie, so I guess that really stuck in Snyder's craw for *checks notes* nearly three years.
Like, I'm imagining that trope where somebody hears something devastating and part of the sentence echoes in their head while the background goes black.

Mm hm.
That's Colin Farrell??
Wait
What?!
I mistook that shot for one of the "mafia" type villains or perhaps a human clayface. but I am excited for this.

We had a glimmer of it in The Dark Knight, but yeah.
It’s a core conceit of the film, the entire plot is based around it.
Batman interrogates Joker in the middle of the police station! Gordan shares all sorts of info with him!
